YES! John used that for the inside roof of the Jeep to mount the radios. It works fantastic.

Unistrut is fantastic! I used it on a roof rack I built for my H-3, mounted my spare the jack an extra fuel tank. Also built a little mount for a small pipe boom to swing stuff on and off the top of the truck. Keep up the awesome videos.

I'm just tickled that you still have your old truck. I love your truck and you know better than anyone the hundreds of memories you have with her. I'm not going to point out anything as far as recommendations, right now, I'm just enjoying your real world issues and seeing your old truck. LOL. Keep up the great work my friend.

It would be hard for me to give up all that flat real estate but what works for you is good. I think I would of mounted one on each side of the box(outboard sides) because you never know when youd want to carry wood, atv, bodies....etc on that top.Love your videos.

Heyyy!!! Very very nice! Thanks so much for the shoutout ( 1:59 ) - really appreciate it! This Unistrut stuff is so awesome...simple, strong, and versatile. Nice, clean, clever approach for your traction boards. I really like your knobs too, that's a great idea. I'm probably going to reconfigure my rack a bit now that I've had some time to use it and will finally get around to painting it at that point. Anyway, looks great and thanks again for the nod. Love this channel and looking forward to seeing the Kia evolve!

The diamondback raised pattern creates a gap under the unistrut. I would feel safer with a good filet of sealant around the bolt hole between these two. An easy fix is on the inside I would put a sealant filet around the bolt hole, then a flat washer, then the lockwasher and nut to make a for sure water tight seal. Those knobs on top are going to vibrate loose so you might want keeper pins there also.

I can’t wait to see the Kia at work. I hope you put it through it paces. And don’t be easy on her. I’m sure there’s lots of doubters. The best way to prove its capabilities is by going to all the places where you normally go and doing what you do. What are your plans when you get it and do you have any doubts about it capabilities. Ground clearance etc.

@MildThang5 жыл бұрын
I would have have mounted them horizontal across the diamondback, because that would give you the ability to change the position of the studs to accommodate longer boards or boards with different spaced center holes and, once the studs are through the boards they could not ever work loose. The way it is currently set up, the spring bolts may ( I know, very slim chance) work loose and slide back or forward in the Unistruts. I'm sure this will work fine, but you're kind of stuck with that size now, unless you mount new boards at an angle. You could never go shorter, though.

I have an electrical background. I have a Converted Cargo Trailer that my bed is made from Unistrut. I have vertical 1-5/8 Unistrut that have the Unistrut trolley to raise and lower the bed to put my dune buggy in and out. I have a set of MaxTrax to mount. I also have a box of spring nuts. Awesome, one bit of advice , if I may. I would suggest you put a lock washer on the pegs because as I know for sure , I have nuts come loose all the time in this big truck due to the vibration. ? How difficult was it to recover the recovery boards?
@Robert-vj3ec5 жыл бұрын
Hay Jason, just a thought. HiLift a has neoprene boot to go over the jack head. If you get one it'll keep the dirt and crap out of the head. It also works well in the winter to help it from freezing up with snow in it.. Just a thought, as it's always nice when your jack works when you need it..

No problem Jason. If you find you're having to much road mess on the back, you can also bag it. If you're interested in making your own I'll walk you through it. I used to use Samson material. It's cc was -40, but it worked great when thing were mounted on the back of the jeep. Downside was frozen zippers. lol Cheers..@@PrimalOutdoors

@prepperjonpnw64825 жыл бұрын
Hey There - out here in this part of Oregon you need to carry the recovery boards year round. I live just south of Jason and we have quite a few places to get stuck in lol. Lots of sand, extremely soft dirt (powdery pumice dust) water just coming up out of the ground (artesian springs), creeks, streams, rivers, marshes, etc. So we carry the recovery boards at all times. Cheers mate
@littleacres67535 жыл бұрын
I too live in Oregon! I would be a little worried about someone stealing them & would want my gear more secure. It just seems the recovery boards wouldn't be used that often to where you would want them mounted on the truck.

@hmr1715 жыл бұрын
The Unistrut gives you some fore and aft adjustment with your adjustable stud, but what if you buy new recovery boards and there's no holes in the recovery boards that line up with the Unistrut bar itself? I suppose you could drill a hole through the new recovery board.
@hmr1715 жыл бұрын
I probably would have mounted the Unistrut channel at a 45 angle to make a sort of \ / pattern. That way, if you moved the t-slot bolt forward, with would also make the span wider. Move it aft, and it makes it narrower to give greater adjust-ability.

Anyone have any ideas on how I could use this possibly to mount a fire extinguisher in the bed of a Tacoma with a rail system? Or does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks
@hmr1715 жыл бұрын
Isn't the rail system pretty similar to Unistrut in concept? Google T-slot bolts. Maybe you could pry the plastic keepers off the end of the rail system and slide an appropriate T-slot bolt into it an bolt the extinguisher bracket to them.
@prepperjonpnw64825 жыл бұрын
Side note • You should carry another fire extinguisher in the cab of your truck. That way it’s easier and faster to get to it when you need it. I know this from personal experience and watching Coyote Works video of his Jeep Rubicon going up in flames. His video is still up on his channel
