Day 3 of my High Desert Overland route and I came across a deserted Ranch House. To me this is what Overlanding is really about exploring remote areas and finding awesome scenery and historical artifacts along the way.

I come from a multi generation ranching family, every time I see an abandoned ranch or farm I cannot help but think of the generations of family that was born there on that land, raised there and died there, all their hopes and dreams tied up in their land and how heart breaking it must have been to them to lose all that.

What a cool discovery to come across while driving! Exploring the history of old settlers and being able see what other's lived like so long ago sure would be a nice day. 21 people gave this a thumbs down because none of the buildings in the old town had AC LOL. Great video as always!

What you're seeing is the "long view". There is a theory that people that live in cities or are only looking at their phones actually ruin their vision. I find it extremely relaxing to be able to look out and see the world for miles and miles.

We as so fortunate to live in Central Oregon. I just returned from a multi day trip to the Black Rock Mts in NW Nevada. From Bend it is a easy drive to Hart Mt NWR, then a short drive south to the Black Rock Mts in NW Nevada. I spent 4 days cruising so many miles of BLM lands. I never saw an other person the whole time. We traveled portions of the historic Applegate trail. We are in aw of the pioneers that traveled these trails. How many "Modern Americans" could complete such a treck? The drive home we stopped at Virgin Valley CG in Sheldon NWR. My wife loves the showers heated by the hot springs. What makes Central and South Eastern Oregon special are the wide open spaces and the lack of what I often see in the Cascades each summer. Let them enjoy the summer in the Cascades but winter here is great. Love your videos. Life is good,

A place like that looks amazing. No city lights to interfere with the night sky. If it was a clear night, there must have been a billion stars. Plus what a history find, old buildings like that and still look to be in decent shape for there age. Keep it up.

You have got to be kidding. Who in the world would not like and enjoy this entire setting. Being from Nebraska I can relate to your experience of the fact that total quiet has a sound. Great video. You capture exactly what overlanding should be about, and why I personally love exploring off the beaten path. The lower the people per acre ratio is, the happier I am, and discovering historical artifacts in the middle of a beautiful setting makes miles worth it. Keep up the great content. Side lesson learned from this video...when it's time to put a roof on your home...go with a metal roof...it will last over 100 years. Without that roof keeping most of the weather outside, that building would have collapsed decades ago.

Got to visit this place over Memorial Day weekend, thanks to your video. There was already someone camped at the ranch, so we didn't stay there. Found a great spot just off the road heading west from there, about two and a half miles away with a 500 foot elevation gain, with a magnificent view of everything below us, including the ranch. We swung back through on our way out and explored for a short while, before heading for the blacktop and home. We had never heard of this place before, so thank you very much for sharing this.

You should try some Astro-photography. I did some basic research, and when I was camping in Valley of the Gods near Mexican Hat, I managed to get a really cool image of the Milky Way. The places you go in the high desert shouldn’t have any light pollution so they would be ideal.
