Not a fan of your schematic. both the line monitor and the pre-reading kVp meter should be wired in parallel relative to both transformers, because voltage is constant in parallel. The return line from the high voltage transformer should not bypass the autotransformer.

You’re right. It a very simplified schematic. I’ve also purposefully left out some components. My goal here is to give a conceptual understanding not a technical one.
