The crazy thing about Thor's competitive record is that he overlapped so heavily with Brian's, and also came up when Big Z was a guaranteed spot on the podium, AND had a peak Eddie Hall to contend with for a bit. was an amazing time for strongman fans but it means he never had a chance to consistently dominate the field for a while (the way, say, Mariusz in a fractured strongman era got to show up without Big Z to worry about in an ostensible "world's strongest" anything). it looks like the new crop is also developing into something spectacular, maybe a little more agile than that era (and pound for pound, Mitchell and Novikov are already rewriting the rules of nature), but I don't know if I'm prepared to compare them to Thor's competition yet. at the end of the day that is why I like this type of comparison, based on event achievements, not win loss records. fact is, even if you come in second in a deadlift or axle press event in the Thor - Brian - eddie - big z era, you're a champion of that event in any era. and being against stronger competition tends to bring out higher numbers from everyone on the podium or close to it.

Fun video series. One of the exciting things about strongman is there are a lot of events, so you get to see athletes compete with their best events, or sometimes only their bad events. The best athletes usually don't fall out of the top few spots on any event, and that's how Mitchell has been performing in contest.

I´am fully aware the you won´t read this post but I still won´t to write a few words to you showing my admiration to for and your team for makeing this amazing vid. As I sad this was real a world class vid bro. You grew with at leat 10cm in my book MH after this. The way you showed Thor the respect I think he deserves tells me what a great sportsman and person you are, and kudos to you for that. I´am from the Faroe Island, there is a good chance you never heard about the faroes. We are a groop of 18 very small Islands with pop. of only 55.000. Beeing that we only are a stone throw away from Iceland, that is if you throw the stone, and that we also descent from the vikings, our culture are very much alike. We have a very strong bond with iceland and we consider them our brothers and sisters as they do with us. Bearing all this in mind I of course root for Haftór to win evry comp. that he takes part of. But after seeing this vid. where you very respectfully compare the two of you, I now have become one of your new fans, even if I still have Haftór as my number one. When to two of you finelly will compete you I realy hope you get on the podium as the runner up. Even do I know that you won´t read this I wan´t to tell you to that you now have become my second most favorit strongman witch isen´t all that bad considering the you where a the low end before I saw this amazing vid and thank you for that.

In strongman he might be, but strongest man ever is so subjective. Eddie Hall was definitely stronger than Thor in powerlifting lifts. Brian Shaw as well. I don't know if that's definitely true.

Random fact for the algorithm: Quite fittingly, the first CD made in the United States for commercial release was Bruce Springsteen's 1984 album, "Born in the U.S.A." I can see Thor getting back to being top 5, but not to peak 2018 Thor. In some ways though, he can be better. Hard to replicate the strength he had at his highest weight, but after getting lean and doing all that boxing, his cardio is going to be noticeably improved. Not former marathon-runner level, but still in the top tier of strongman. I hope he realizes he doesn't have to win, just compete, and give us more enjoyment. Big Z wasn't winning when he has entered a few comps recently with the regular top strongmen, and nobody forgets he is still arguably the GOAT. Some more longevity in the sport is only going to help Thor's legacy. FMM, he can still podium pretty regularly.

THOR. Hands down. Probably, highly likely, the strongest guy ever to live so far. Had it all - atheltiscism, work ethic, genetics ... and for someone who is close to 7 feet tall, INSANELY good at statics. For someone as tall as him with that pretty normal ape index to smash 501kg off the floor with obviously more in the tank is just mental.

Thor WAS exceptionally fast on loading races. Any dynamic event he was insanely good. You saw how on your best event the yoke, a pre-prime Thor got close to your best. He's athletic AF for a big man and his height means his strides are bigger and long arms can pick up implements easier.

Prime Thor vs prime Mitch(let's face it...Mitch is constantly improving) would be epic.

Hooper is the biggest genetic freak of ALL TIME in strongman. There was no competitor like him, not even early days Pudzianowski. He is what Kieliszkowski was meant to be. He made like 10 years worth of progress in 2 years.

It's actually better for you to realise you aren't as good as Thor... yet! Because it then gives you drive to strive to be better! I've no doubt you can become one of the greatest strongmen of all time. Can't wait to see Thor back in the mix competing against you!!!

Once Hafthor's pec injury fully recovers and his OHP gets back to where it was he will be Full Thor and you guys can have a great rivalry.

@@mitchellhooperstrongman You’re well on your way! If you keep winning consistently like you’ve been you might be the goat all by yourself. Shaw and Savickas did it for yrs. Keep kicking ass, I’m rooting for you!!!
