Angel Dust has this particular trait that it's always been there, featured right in front of us, but with this episode, it does become something evident: Angel is really protective, especially of those that he cares about. Whether is shoving Cherry Bomb out of the way from Sir Pentious's attack in the pilot, trying to protect the hotel from the Vee’s spying plan, saving Pen from territorial war and drag him back home, pushing Charlie away from Valentino’s malicious intentions, saving Niffty from a piece of debris when the hotel it's attacked and taking her knife early in the episode, or watching out for her once again from the new environment and Valentino. Unfortunately, a good portion of those occasions (and the most highlighted ones) usually come at the expense of Angel’s own safety. Knowing him, it wouldn’t be surprising to think that Angel might not still see himself as truly worth protecting and his fierce motivation to stand up to Val mainly comes from prioritizing Niffty. Regardless, it is a comprehensible way to push some adrenaline in the intent to grasp for freedom after trying to express his tiredness earlier. I really like how this takes place outside the studio, in a public space and surrounded by his support network.

I love how Angel also has the most crushed reaction to Pentious' death after Charlie as well, given both characters compete in terms of the 'older sibling' disposition where they wanna make sure no one else gets hurt within their actions. Pentious was the one who saved Niffty from the Hotel debris however.

Now that we have our first redeemed guest, It would be nice to expand a bit more on it. Also yes, Sir Pentious was the one who saves Niffty from the debris, my memory didn't work well as usual. There's just a very brief moment where Angel takes her away from the fire.

It's interesting how Angel currently has different people who support him with Charlie, Cherry and Husk. Cherry and Charlie right now seem to be on opposite sides, yet both unconditionally love him and want to actively help Angel in the only way they have ever known how, but they also struggle to put themselves on his level. Cherry shares and embraces that unbridled life to numb the reality that her and his friend have experienced for a very long time, but now Angel wants to at least try to leave that behind. Charlie truly believes in Angel and he does want to believe in Charlie's goal of redemption. Although she’s learning, Charlie still doesn’t have an accurate understanding of the complex reality of sinners, leading to her methods simply not working for Angel, and even unintentionally hurting him on some occasions. Husk tries to be that voice of reason for everyone, and he wants for Angel to be better because he sees potential in him, someone who is in a similar situation as himself. Not only does he remind him to consider his actions, but he also acknowledges and communicates with him about his progress while leaving Angel to be the one who decides and has that control. That being said, he can be judgemental, and sometimes that can feel overwhelming to some, resulting in the opposite effect with not leaving Angel to be comfortable enough to share all of his feelings. Hopefully, Husk and Cherri will eventually follow Sir Pentious and Angel Dust on the path towards healing. Of course, dynamics can change. It will be interesting how these relationships will evolve according to future events and character development. Can't wait for season 2!
