I feel this one to be a bit of an easier purchase than the Mirage/Grimlock set. Siege Sideswipe with Earthrise Suntreaker alt mode is pretty impressive and does look to be the best of all the Sideswipes we’ve gotten in WFC. And this BW Skywarp looks fine for what it is. Amazon exclusivity and inflated price can still rot in Unicron’s smelting innards though.

@@curbydinobot8633 yes and no. In Beast Wars US he was Silverbolt yes but then we got the Fuzor. In Japan the Magnaboss team was used in Beast Wars 2nd and he becaise Skywarp. The Lion LioJunior (because the leader was a white lion LioConvoy) and the elephant Santo.

My biggest issue is that Sideswipe still doesn’t do enough to separate itself from Siege. It’s just a little too lazy. Same with Mirage and Ultra Magnus to name a few

I was lucky? Enough to never get siege magnus or mirage, so it turned out well for me, but I think the reason they aren’t different enough is that the siege versions were almost earth vehicles anyways, just a few tweaks was all they needed. That’s actually a problem with seige rather than the new kingdom stuff

You are correct. When the toy was released in Japan as part of the Beast Wars II line, he was renamed Skywarp, as all the characters from the Magnaboss set were renamed. Why are they going for the Japanese name? I don't know, but many hope it means that we're getting a new version of Fuzor Silverbolt.

First of all only american amazon charges for this set as much as prevoius grimlock and mirage set. European amazon charges as much as 2 deluxes cost in Europe. Pulse alse didn't mark up the price afaik. Secondly Beast Wars Grimlock is the same character as G1 Grimlock just reformatted as Maximal. With Skywarp he is more obscure there is nothing stopping anyone from calling him Silverbolt since they were almost identical(He just had white head instead of silver one). Then you again have G1 character reformatted as Maximal. As for why they chose that character, well it's an easy repaint. Also here I am not caring that much about Sideswipe I just ordered this set for Skywarp.

Also, Beast Wars Grimlock is not from Beast Wars II (pronounced Beast Wars Second). He was a toyline exclusive Beast Wars release. Characterization wise, he is basically G1 Grimlock reformatted into a Maximal.

Imo the only reason to get this set is if you have Earthrise Sunstreaker and you want the vehicle modes to be similar. Perhaps if they gave him a spoiler and sold him individually as Walgreen or Target exclusive, I would be slightly tempted. As it is, I'll stick with my siege figure.

I do feel bad for those who've been screwed over with Amazon exclusives. Especially since I haven't had any real problems with them. In fact I actually quite like pre-ordering from Amazon because I use gift card money so I don't have to worry about my credit or debit card being charged at a bad time. But personally, I love these sets. Both Mirage and Sideswipe were characters I was more than happy with their Siege versions and would have shrugged at the need for Earth mode versions of them. But from what I've seen, they're totally worth it. And I'm genuinely thrilled to get some more Beast Wars characters outside of the main cast. Grimlock and Skywarp will be fine additions to my collection. But that's just me. Good review, thank you.

I’m canceling my preorder since all I want is Sideswipe, and earth mode Sideswipe isn’t what I was hoping for. Maybe with a spoiler I would consider keeping it, but it doesn’t. Keep in mind I don’t own Siege Sideswipe and I’m passing on this. I’ll continue to wait for the next iteration. Maybe a generation select Sideswipe down the road? The wait continues for the right Sideswipe.

I couldn't care any less for the Beast Wars figure, and I really don't like that I have to buy it to get Sideswipe. I'm sure there are Beast Wars fans that feel the same way in reverse. I would imagine most people (besides scalpers) don't want both of these. I would even have been fine with changing the two packs around into like series.

I think Siege Swideswipe is now overused. I really dig this one and I actually might prefer this version over others cz that paint and earth mode vehicle does look rather appealing but I just don't think its worth all that much if its almost the same thing we've gotten before about 4 times now. Guess if you have never gotten any wfc sideswipe before it might be worth going for, or if you're also after skywarp which I gotta say also looks awesome.

Not a lot of retooling? Every vehicle mode body panel was retooled to match the Sunstreaker car mold. THAT'S minor? Hell I was expecting a new roof and that was it XD When I had seen the new chest I was surprised but seeing the entire car body changed was a shock actually. I still agree though, should have ditched reissuing Arcee and Wheeljack for this figure to be in the main line.

Not sure what you're talking about. Are Eagles and Falcons even really that different? The paint job alone I think is enough to make him come across as an Eagle. Falcons don't have coloring like that. Anyway... the figure looks good but I don't really see the point without the other two to form Magnaboss.

I'd rather of had a crow Decepticon based on the Nu-RID character faction - than a Beast War II version of a character. Heck I'd not even have minded if it was a grey bird of prey of some sort then I could pretend it was 1/2 of Fuzor Silverbolt. I guess I can just pretend Grimlock and Skywarp are some sort of Dimensional traveller or just an example of nameslap like with Inferno, Megatron, & Silverbolt. But overall I think a "new" character would have suited my interests more... at least if it had been a Corvicon then it would have had some interest to someone. & would follow the tradition of adopting a character from one segment into another as already done with Lockdown, Lugnut and Barricade to a large extent. If they just need to use a mould to recoup the cost then I guess I'd not mind a Predacon Rhinox Figure to much. Oh and yes Amazon exclusives such as Amazon has lousy distribution and they tend to overcharge a bit for some things compared to their inherent value..
