Nice i like feather bundles too, nice idea keeping it on the ground. Liked the 2nd kit alot, looked quick and field expedient, beautiful area. Funny i put a rope to my cat once and he became insane and dangerous hahaha

right on with no dry tinder, ya my cat was an outdoor cat originally before becoming indoor, he went spastic when i leashed him! Nearly had to stitch myself up!

You have some great clear ice there. Ever tried making an *ice lens*? It's pretty easy if you can get clear ice. (I had to make mine in the freezer.) You can use an empty steel can to shape a very accurate spherical section. Of course, then you just need some SUN...

Do you know how cold it was? I tried the hand drill once in Canada when it was about -15C outside. Really struggled with it, because my hands were so numb and "stupid". Even a bow drill was difficult, but at least I got to keep the gloves on for that. Maybe I'm just not used to the cold, being from sunny South Africa. Perhaps you have some tricks up there, or you're accustomed to it, or your blood is just thicker or something?
