Best song on the album for me is Dark. He performed a version of this song in Monaco back in the day with an absolutely killer guitar solo.

I'll do a top five: 1 Pheromone 2 Dark 3 Come 4 Letitgo 5 Papa But in all honesty, I love the whole album. This and The Gold Experience were the two I listened to the most from Prince's 90s body of work, and they still rank high among my favorite Prince LPs. To me, there are several strong cuts on both Come and The Gold Experience. It all indicated that he was searching again musically, and with a vengeance ✌️

I agree. Gold Experience is probably my favorite Prince album. So many awesome tracks. So underrated. I was a kid in the 90's so I discovered most of this years later.

One of my favorite Prince albums, especially "Come", "Pheromone", "Race", and his greatest remix: "Space (Universal Love Remix)"... Sadly, on the morning of April 22, 2016, when I read the tragically, crushing news, I was listening to "Dark"... It took me over two years before I could listen to that song again. I have been into Prince since the very beginning....4 me every album dropped is like a new and exciting chapter from the book of Prince... I have so many favorite albums, so many favorite cuts.... It's hard 2 name my favorite selections.... they are all badass!!!...Come is one of my favorites.... and my favorite songs from this cd are..... Pheromone.... Come.... Letitgo..... Papa....Solo, and Space.... this entire cd is special 2 me, not only 4 the music, but also the fact that my late husband bought it 4 me 4 our`9th wedding anniversary as we both were huge Prince fans.... besides, what better way 2 spend your wedding anniversary than getting down with hot, sexy Prince music and a romantic candle lit dinner.... not necessarily in that order.... what a wonderful memory...... Thank u posting this informative review.... and thank u Prince Rogers Nelson 4 all that u gave 2 us over the years.... we love and miss u more than u could ever know..... Welcome 2 the Dawn......😘🌬🕊☮✝🎸🎹🎻🎺🎼💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💞

The Come album is indeed very understated. However certain parts of the Purple family knew its value long ago. I had discovered it after his passing. I was shocked as to how cohesive it is. There are no filler tracks on this album. Everything is masterful and just flows. Dark is one of my faves and it is somewhat reminiscent of I Hate U. Prince was very forward thinking incorporating the electronic sound into Loose . Let It Go is jam which breaks away from the overall dark and erotic tone. My everything track is the Universal Love remix of Space. I have repeated millions of times. It was like the Holy Grail when I bought that remix. After seeing this vid, I will likely play it this afternoon. Appreciate the history and your content.

This seems to be one of his most shuffled around albums that I am aware of. I’m probably wrong but I know there were a lot of different proposals. The track list for this album and the sequencing is so biographically meaningful and makes so much sense. It is very dark and heavy with Papa right in the middle. But by the end of the album it is about letting go (in more ways than one.). It is a very overlooked album because Prince wanted it that way so WB wouldn’t benefit monetarily. But this is no throw-away album even if that is what he wanted people to believe..

So glad to see this album get some love! There are individual Prince songs I prefer over the tracks on Come, but in terms of albums, I think it might be my favorite collection of his songs. The atmosphere is so wonderfully sleek and dark - it's wild how well the songs live together given the disparate sources of tracks (even by his standards). The segues are a factor of course, but the whole minimal R&B, New Jack Swing sound that Prince cultivated on these tracks is a joy to listen to. I usually listen to the album in full so it's hard to separate one song out as best, but "Dark" is a highlight for me. As is the brilliant title track - over 11 minutes long (this version anyway) and not a second wasted. Such a cool downtempo vibe throughout!

There are at least 2 unreleased versions of the song 'Space' - the Madhouse version and the Glam Slam Ulysses version (which is probably a different mix or at least a different edit containing additional vocals by Prince not heard in any other released version). Also despite the fact that you're probably correct that '18 & Over' is a 'Come' remix, Prince (at the time of the 'Crystal Ball' compilation's release) posted that it wasn't a remix at all. I seem to recall it being posted in the news section on the L41A website, but it could've been in an interview around that time. Memory is fading a bit on this. Thanks for the video.

The album is great. I remember watching The Beautiful Experience in the UK on TV and being blown away by the tracks only to be disappointed with the album version of Come and the album missing some of TBE tracks. Nevertheless, it's still a set. I wonder how many unreleased tracks from this era exist as I really liked the new power trio

When I first saw Prince live in April 93 at the Universal Ampitheater in LA, Come was blasted on the speakers before the show began. I dont remember it having any lyrics or horns, just the beat and the female voice saying "come". It was memorable though and I knew what it was as soon as I heard the title of the new album. During that show he also played bits of Loose and the lyrics to Race during Purple Rain.

I've come to appreciate Come a lot more over the years. After the sprawling Love Symbol album, it seemed a bit slight but quantity isn't everything. Prince was definitely entering another new phase. I think that the title track is too long and the lyrics are very been there before but the horn arrangement is awesome. My favorite tracks are Dark, Pheromone, Race and Papa. I'm curious to hear the unreleased tracks that you mention. We'll be discovering more and more of his music for a long time to come. What's also interesting is the mock funeral in the booklet complete with a cardboard cutout of Prince from the 1999 era.

A very interesting album! Besides Madhouse albums (where the tracks are titled as numbers), this was the first Prince album where all the song titles are single words (yes, including Letitgo). It would happen again in later albums: Xpectation, N.E.W.S. Cool video! Thanks Casey!

Great video about a great and like you say underrated album. You mentioned the hip hop remixes of Letitgo. Do you know if these remixes were commissionned by Warner or if the producers were chosen by Prince? QDIII & J-Swift are interesting choices I must say. If Prince chose them like he chose Shock G, this would confirm he was more a fan of west coast producers than NYC? (Even though he liked some east coast artists like Gang Starr)
