I believe that one of the greatest mistakes he made was giving the songs on The Family album over to them. If he’d put them out himself - Mutiny, Nothing Compares To You, and this song - they’d have counted among his greatest contributions to music and culture forever.

30+ years ago my brother bought sign of the times album, I said, “uuurggh ! Prince is shit”, my brother said listen to it then talk, I listened and couldn’t believe it. I joined a Prince fan club based in Otley called revolution and got tickets for Wembley Arena, Lovesexy tour, ohh man, it was a thrilling adventure, The Ford Thunderbird got the show rolling, Prince sang ‘Adore’ to Cat while she was on the swing, cops chasing Prince all over the place, he actually ran full speed and slid between Cats legs and snatched her skirt away ha ha. It will be forever the greatest show on earth…..for me. What a genius we have lost, his music is mine forever.

🙂 Chris and Carolyn. I went to visit them. It was fucked up what Prince's people did to them. I think they were selling or giving away bootlegs of Prince's music, so as they were getting sued, Prince's people totally ripped off something they'd written, and used it in the Lovesexy tour program. They were good people, they didn't deserve the way they got treated.

Its the lineage. Prince worked his ass off because he studied James Brown, his output, his work ethic, his drive. James was his hero and he took on the batton........who worked harder? Its a coin toss, but what you can say is without James Brown there would be no prince. Who has the batton now? We could do with D'angelo putting in a shift thats for sure.

The Family version is "simply" Prince verion without some part of this recorded version; Prince cut some instruments in the final cut. There's only a song without Prince imput in The Family's album: River Run Dry.
