Almost. 1999, maybe number 1. Dirty mind made them pay attention. Quick story. I introduced the Controversy album to an 11 year old relative. I was 13 at the time. I told him this artist would be considered the greatest at one point in history. 40 years later, at a reunion ( I haven't seen him since we were that young), he remembered and pulled over to the side and thanked me for changing his life musically for introducing him to Prince. True story!

"Dirty Mind" is my extremely close second favourite to "Sign O' The Times".
@FoxyChariot6 жыл бұрын
Gary Cheshire I agree with this. It'd go 1. Sign O The Times (maybe not my favorite but it is his artistic peak. It is the best) 2. Dirty Mind (my favorite as far as cohesion) 3. 1999 (Very synthetic, alien, and funky. I can't articulate the brilliance of this record. The only thing that bring it down are some overlong songs in the second half that don't warrant their length. Why are DMSR and Automatic over 5 minutes? Lady Cab Driver is immaculate however) 4. Purple Rain (Classic record. Probably his stylistic second or third best but it's lower for me because it is slightly overplayed) 5. Controversy (Love the record. Sounds like a stopgap between Dirty Mind and 1999. Still has classic songs like the title track, Do Me Baby, Lets Work, and Jack U Off) 6. Prince (Probably the most underrated Prince record. He hasn't quite become the funk rock superstar he would become but that doesn't detract from mostly classic cuts on here. See: I Wanna Be Your Lover, Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?, Sexy Dancer, I Feel For You, Its Gonna Be Lonely) 7. Parade (A near classic. A very elegant and stylish record. Not much really stands out besides some essential cuts like Girls and Boys and New Position. It's so ethereal and airy. It also has Kiss on it) 8. For You (Very vanilla and clean compared to the life he would imbue his later material with. Still an interesting listen considering his age when he made it 9. Around The World In A Day (Never really understood this one. It still has Raspberry Beret and Pop Life on it.)

Fans often forget that, and many other things he pulled from fans, including their own fan websites.

Prince turned everything on its head (norms) & did things his way! He had important things figured out very early on in life. He knew exactly how to get attention. He had men, women, black, white, gays, etc making up his band(s). He was all-inclusive. He knew WAY BEFORE ALL OF US how important this was. He attracted everyone to him and as a result his sales went thru the roof....and his popularity too, of course. How is it that he was so far ahead of the rest of the planet? We all need to realize that we need to love one another; we are ALL bothers & sisters essentially, should accept it & get on with moving forward. He tried so hard to tell us. Hear the Prince message people!

Ladies and gentlemen let's wish the Purple One a happy birthday eventhough he's not here. We can show our love and acknowledge that he was here on what would have been 62 years today.

The complex simplicity of the arrangement and the thematic eroticism and the drums combine for pure Prince music ethos.

Jumping off those stages more than likely crushed his hips, causing him pain that needed to be controlled. So much media is out about his extraordinary life. Genius and a giver. We know Prince was here. RIP

I have Prince and all the songs I loved to dance to at the clubs in the 80's on a mini USB stick, in my car commercial-free.....Priceless.....I will always listen to these beats from my glory days. MountainAngel

Those 3 albums were masterpieces so ahead of their time. A side note I believe Rolling Stone magazine named Dirty Mind the best album of the 80s.

Jessica Jones Wow that’s dope! Did you keep the ticket stub?
@JessicaJones-me6sp5 жыл бұрын
@@YeekTV_Atlanta No. In fact, I bitched about having to pay the 5. A friend's mother worked for the city and had comp tickets. My other friend loved Prince and played 'Soft and Wet' constantly at the bar on campus. I liked the song, but he wasn't a big deal to me. He made me a believer afterwards! That show was great! He jumped on the piano - I mean on top! Teena Marie was a favorite of mine already and she knew she had to get down. No stub, just memories of that red scarf, high heeled boots, trench coat and briefs.

Just got to say i really love when prince changes up his vocal style in any song...this song has a great few seconds of that at the end that just take the song to another level

To me this was Prince. Now I say this due to every single band member that rocked with him during this time. All the other bands after these guys where great but there was something very special about this 6. Not sure who else feel this same way, However Prince thank you for the inspiration from your early recordings. You were and still is our "Ludwig Van Beethoven" and Elvis. Peace!

The fact that Prince play all the instruments on this album blows my mind

I see what people mean when they say this album laid the ground for the 80s sound. The break at 2:08-2:20 reminds me of Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams(Are Made of This), which would come only a few years after this.

Prince WAS on KZbin before, he just started busting unofficial videos, TV recordings, music in the background because he wasn't getting fair deals. Prince WAS a CAPITALIST and didn't like libtards taking advantage of him. Period.
