Here in the US, Caroline and John Kennedy Jr. were involved in their father's funeral at much younger ages, and while John Jr probably didn't remember it, I have never heard Caroline speaking of any kind of trauma from her experience. Since I was about Caroline's age at that time, I asked my mother about what was discussed about it at the time, and she did not recall anyone criticizing those children being involved. I think going through losing a parent so soon is the real trauma, and I think it's very possible that at 12, Harry could have as easily felt left out if he didn't walk with his family.

Harry needs to grow up and get over the funeral piece. His mother died decades ago. She wasn’t murdered she died she was in a high speed crash and was not wearing a seatbelt. I was 13 when my grandfather died suddenly. I was sent off to school - for years it felt like I hadn’t had opportunity to grieve properly / get closure and i felt it took way longer to get over it than if I’d been given the option of attending. At the time there was no bereavement counselling, no therapists people just had to get in with it. All the support he was given and support that was available to him and still we hear it trotted out year in year out.
