I think when people say “quirky” they’re referring to the way that you’re not excessively formal toward us viewers. You feel like a friend even if most of us have never met you in person. When the something you are passionate about is not mainstream, you are "weird" or "quirky". When I moved to the Portland, Oregon area 25 years ago, one of the first things I noticed was all the bumper stickers that said "keep Portland weird" and were upside down on the cars. I miss that Portland before politics became violent. Google the Unipiper or Portland Sleestack.
