You know you can actually kill the first guard with a falling plank. It's just hard to get the timing right. You can also push the soldiers off the edge to the right at 1:38 and jump down withough getting hurt. It does something slightly strange if you do it right. The prince seems to get stunned and the soldiers vanishes!
