Wow, that was one of the funniest and most anticlimactic "boss battles" I've seen yet. Dude whips out the sword and almost plunges to his death, then it's a one-hitter-quitter to END THE ENTIRE GAME. Excellent.

I remember beating this back in the late 90's. Was soo frustrating trying to figure out Level 12 shadow and leap of faith puzzle. I solved the puzzle by accident, I pressed down during the sword fight with the shadow, and as soon as your shadow mimicked the movement, I got soo excited. The game automatically puts you in a fighting stance when the shadow appears before you, your immediate reaction was to jump into battle right away. Every hit you take or give, you loose control of situation. For the ones who played Karateka and finished it, this puzzle pays homage to it's ending in which you have the choice to either approach the princess in fighting stance and get killed, or run towards her for the good ending. Unfortunately I did not finish Karateka until later. After merging with the shadow, I was stuck thinking what now? i went around every corner of level 12 after merging with the shadow to look for a hidden passage or door. Nothing. The leap of faith idea was very random and I wish there were clues to this other than knowing the game is all about trial and error. Considering I've died a lot in this level before and after merging with the shadow, you just had to try that path the jump the fuck out of it. When the platform appeared, 10 year old me attempted to hump the keyboard.

I think in POP2, you need to alternatively pressing forward and backward arrows for the prince to get the fire protection (he will sort of glow in fire); that too I found out of frustration. (someone still playing in 2023) :)

The shadow or ghost, from what Wikipedia says, is the Doppelgänger of the character created through the mirror ... like a trap, illusion and another mirror of the game by the Vizier to try to deceive and defeat the player ... I must admit that this idea was already far ahead of its time. Can you imagine fighting against your own self and not knowing how to defeat it without dying due to the fact that you hurt yourself and do not fight you die the same, although the answer to beat him is so simple and is it right under your nose? Very ingenious, really.

I never got to beat it when I was a kid. But 10 years after I stopped playing, I earned my own money, purchased a computer and I was running the same copy from 10 years before (I preserved the game by copying it into new sources to avoid corruption of data). As an adult I beat the hole game in a weekend. And it felt so good :D. It took me much more time to beat Jaffar btw...

2:17 WTF??? Today I've been trying this for hours but that damn tile always fell down. I decided to watch the solution on your video (didn't play this for over 3 years... and it was Macintosh version), because I didn't remember how to get past it and I am quite surprised to see this. I mean: when I jumped for the first time, I was pretty sure the stable tile was the 3rd (from the right), and tiles 4, 5 (the one you drop over your head) and 6 those unstable ones (you can see them moving when you jump). I was wrong. Before watching this, I reached that top for the 75478665326543865237389127845th time, I paused and windowed the game (I mean, DOSBOX), came here and watch... What can I say... Thank you! After watching this, I resumed the game and... climbing on the 4th tile at last worked! Obviously, I fought Jaffar until kill him by sword. But I remember I've been able to force him to fall (from the other side), 12+ years ago, when I played Prince of Persia Macintosh for the first time on a PS2. You know, it was there as an easter egg of "The Sands of Time", when you destroyed a wall at about 40% of the game. PS: Wow, you reached this level with 26 minutes of time remaining. I had 12 minutes remaining when I reached this.

That's cool, you got Jaffar by flipping it around and knocking him off with one strike where he falls to his death. I usually engage in a full blown swordfight with him. I must admit, when I first got to him, I was expecting him to use deadly magic but instead, he's like any other swordsman.

Imagino estar en este juego y ayudar a nuestro protagonista a luchar contra Jaffar. Pero imagino un tipo de escenarios diferentes como por ejemplo: Que nos encontramos en algo como un desierto y caminamos hasta llegar al castillo. Y ahí es cuando Jaffar le ordena a los guardias que activen las trampas para que se deshagan de nosotros y el salga victorioso.
