i've never really thought about the whole arm-in-a-shark thing, but it's definitely right. it's cool how you were able to subtly weave... feminism into this? since obviously this flawed idea of "penetrating = dominant" stems from "male = dominant" (and by extension, "female = submissive/inferior,") and, essentially, that it's a problem of hetero-normativity. anyway, i looooved the whole scene. well, the whole series, really!

I absolutely love these books, I read each one in a day - I couldn't put them down! I really love the way that this scene played out, I thought it really worked on a plot level while staying true to their characters. I liked hearing your thought processes as you wrote this chapter - it solidified a lot of what I thought was going on. I didn't mind that the oil just appeared! Honestly, Laurent knew ahead of time what he wanted to do before he went to Damen's room and he would have prepared accordingly by having the oil on him. It would be really awesome if you continued to make these commentaries! I'm very excited about the next volume!

Oh LORD what I wouldn’t give to read all your authors notes you made while writing these books. I’m sure there are hundreds upon hundreds because of how attentive to detail you were in this scene. These two characters have completely taken hold of me and I think about them so much in my daily life.. about how different songs or phrases or clothes or people relate to them. I love hearing your thoughts on how scenes could’ve went because it shows why another version would’ve failed even if it would’ve been more emotional or hot or heart-wrenching.. I love these books and thank you for writing them

Everything about this chapter was so perfecttt... and they did seem in character. The internal thoughts that weren't verbalized by Laurent were expressed really well through his actions. And we had enough of an idea from previous chapters and little bits of what is said to know WHY he was having those thoughts. It works really well to explain his reasons without needing to be told everything verbally. Show, don't tell :p

You succeeded perfectly!! I desperately wanted to look away the entire time. It was a mix of feelings that was, in the end, overpowered by the desire to continue. I could not unpin my eyes from the page. In fact, I struggled so much I was almost laughing the entire time. I was a mess of excited rolling and squealing the entire chapter. I am glad that you added these lines of humour or of Laurent's sarcasm. It stayed true to his character, and made the whole sex scene more believable. There is no way that they wouldn't have their normal banter even when doing it with one another. Thank you so much for all of this!!

i suppose its also a lgbt relationship story - there may be some stuff in there thats not so good - but theres nothing wrong with being sidekick or even servant to a close friend which is probably a sexual nature in the end. and may end up with the usual cuffs play etc. i dont mind too much if you like the persons involved a lot. may make for a great friendship. theres nothing too much wrong with some closeness and even wearing street jewellry given to each other as a markings and a present. but its a bit romantic and bdsm anyways ! many like the bdsm lgbt compliant content. second and third base reachable quickly

I personally loved the way this chapter was written because, as you said, it felt reverent in every way. From the way the description was written, explicit yet not obscene or overly sensual as you said, to the way the characters move in the scene. Hearing you talk about the dynamic and the transitions and the characterization was so amazing because it explained some of the things and voiced some of my own thoughts on the chapter. The amount of thought you put simply into this chapter was amazing and I admire your work so much more.

Really. This is my absolute favourite book. I am so happy that my friend send me this commentary 😍😍😍 and really this is one of the few books where I like it that they go all the way directly instead of working towards it. Great commentary! I really enjoy your sex scenes as they're never gratuitous or out of character and are very satisfying and show the emotional progression of the characters. And we see why here because you've put so much thought into how you craft them. I find it funny how someone criticized "no kidding" as anachronistic when this is fantasy. I'm not a gay man so I don't really know how the top/bottom dynamic works and if it usually stays the same in a relationship or you take turns?? lol. I did always thought of Damen as more dominant in the relationship and it made sense to me that he was on top, but you're right, Damen is more dominant physically, but intellectually Laurent is more dominant. And the oil lolol. I just assumed Laurent came prepared like he's prepared with everything else. In some ways these sex scenes are heartbreaking because Laurent was used to being used for sex and serving his uncles, but he was never made love to until Damen. I'd have to disagree that Damen is still perfect for Laurent; he was what he needed to learn to trust again and open himself to someone. But like Laurent said, when someone has been molded that young, it takes time for that to be undone. I wish you would do more of these commentaries! I think I've watched all the interviews I could find of you on KZbin, and I'd love to hear a commentary on the Fortaine tent scene right after Charcy. It was just so shocking and heart-wrenching to read and I'd love to learn more about the craft that went on behind the scenes.

Ok.... So ive read them all, and this might be a SPOILER, but, i had a suspicion.......... Was it seriously the Regent who stole Laurent's first time? Like, it makes sense when you think of the Regent's taste for children (omg) and Laurent as a 13 year old. And Laurent was feeling lonely, sad, devastated over his brothers loss... But was it the Regent (does he even have a name?) who fucked him first? Thatd be horrible if thats true.... And explains why no ones blabbed about taking Laurent the first time....... Not sure why hed be so bothered by "incest" as he says, when he denies that it was Auguste... Wouldnt he rather it be Auguste over his uncle? Lol Not sure ill get an answer, but so be it.... Its horrible of the Regent to exploit that poor child's weakness just to fuck him if its true. ☹️ but if it was Damen... That wouldve been really nice, and Laurent would not be the one we know today.... Damen would provide him with what he needed -- love, affection, care. Only problem is that, again, Auguste died by his hand, and Laurent would maybe hate affection from him at first, then come to like it? Damen mightve even been able to get him away from the Regent.... Peaceful trips to Alkielos? Btw, have you been able to read fan-fic etc, now that all the books are done? 🤔 just wondering. Or do you want to stay true to the universe and your ideas? Lol
