This song has been engraved in my mind by a truely remarkable human being of a Maori decent. I had a pleasure of meeting him at Mt Wellington Trust Tavern where he was performing in 1981and I will cherish that forever. I was a fresh Fijian Indian and I loved the song without speaking a word of Maori then. God bless you Sir.

To my mother Margaret Ngamako Johnstone (née Hohepa). This song was her favourite of all time. She died nearly 9years ago and today I cannot stop weeping for her because besides Jesus she is THE ONLY ONE IN MY LIFE WHO EVER LOVED ME UNCONDITIONALLY. Te Aroha Koe Mum xxxx

A truly wonderful song sung by an amazing New Zealander. A proud man of his people and culture. His music bonded us and connected with both pakeha and maori. The feelings he stirs in our souls are truthful, without fear. As a teenager of that era I believe he contributed to the person I am today.

I visited NZ 2 years ago from USA, and someone at a little store in Glenorchy told me about Prince Tui Teka (after he played Pokarekare Ana on his sound system, and I sang along in Maori :-) ). I actu ally found a tape in Aukland, and decided I want to learn this song in Maori also!!

Southeast Asia, my dad was on tour with him, the tune of this song he heard an old lady in the paddy fields singing, on the plane home, he couldn't get the tune out of his head, 1982 he released this, my dad played sax. Uncle Tui was special, he would wake me up dad and the band in Flaxmere, my mum was his seamstress. she did all his band clothes for many 60's bands, I was born 1968 so he was in my life before I was born.
