Who is here in 2022 to recall this historical tragedy? Now that the Queen is dead, can we say the truth about what really happened?
@kimberly1023 Жыл бұрын
Ukeme Tom - I was just thinking the same thing. With Philip and now the Queen gone, will anything further be done? And I still don’t think so. If it was just “King” Charles, they’d probably go for his jugular but the boys. Especially William would never allow anything like that to happen. Everyone says “Poor Harry” and they’re right but just because William has been seen to carry this load so stoically doesn’t mean he hasn’t been deeply affected and I think the public trial of his dad would be too much. And of course, that would mean accepting that your grandfather and father had a hand in your beloved mummy’s murder. That would be too much, just too, too much.

He gave her a state style funeral because the public grieved... For once, he realised how the public adored her, so yes he did honour her passing...for their sons... The RF pulled together something amazing for Dianas funeral...including Elton John playing Candle in the Wind If you cant see that, how bitter you must be...

If only she put on her seat belt. She would be alive and well today. The only one wearing a seatbelt was Trevor Rees-Jones and he took the entire full frontal impact of the crash being in the front seat. The deadly impact was right in front of him. Only stupid people would even consider a conspiracy theory. However Rees-Jones should have insisted that Diana put on her seatbelt. Sadly I can hear Dodi from the back seat. 'Come on, put your foot down. Lose them'. I am sure if Diana was feeling unsafe or worried she herself would have put the belt on. I hope at least she was enjoying the chase and treating it as a bit of fun. Thankfully Diana had no idea what happened. The fact she said 'where am I?' means she was not in pain.
@glen73182 ай бұрын
she was in pain. TRJ did not wear his seatblet but he was not thrown around so violently.

Not sure the country was having a collective nervous breakdown at the time, this is a huge exaggeration ... sure people were taken back.. but the majority of folks across the country were pretty much unaffected . The 24 hour news coverage was disturbing . The media fanned the flames. As always , the media thinks they are the pulse of the nation and they not. People were sad for the lass, she was a good egg. But life goes on and that is what most people did. Got on with their lives.

@@H2JUD The media do a hard sell. Just like what is happening now with the Queen, it is media over-exposure for the reason of getting viewing figures and selling newspapers. Back in 1997, not one person could escape the relatively new 24-hour news. That repeated the same news on a loop all day and night 24 hours a day, every day. It brainwashes people to react in a certain manner. But in reality, to the majority of people, Diana was a stranger.

Obsessed, yes, to the point of being OTT! Mourn in a dignified and genuine way, not with hysteria. Save your personal heartache for your close ones at home who are sick and die. I liked Diana very much indeed but people attribute things to her which are overblown. I've known many people personally who equal Diana for compassion and caring and being able to connect. It's not unusual! Keep things in proportion. She was a super lady and we watched her mature into her "very own woman"! That terrible day in Paris, she would have survived I'm sure, if she'd have worn her seat belt! The drunk driver was to blame but if only she'd worn that belt!

Diana knew exactly what she was doing and she courted the press. She liked the publicity and used the media to great effect! She was no demure, weak damsel in distress, absolutely not! She knew how to play the game. She had a marriage breakdown ending in divorce like at least 50% of marriages. They're all sad! If she hadn't died her life would have gone on to great success I'm positive. Her brother at the funeral was an embarrassment. He should have kept his mouth shut. After all he'd recently rejected her. Plus I don't think Prince Charles us the demon so many attribute to him. That's so unreasonable. I don't blame the press at all. They do hound somewhat but their presence is desired, believe it. Diana was having a very good time after the divorce was settled and done. She was thriving. No; she was no damsel in distress. However, I missed her and R.I.P Diana

The public were really ridiculous in this. Hearing that people wanted to commit suicide over her is just silly. And fussing about a flag. Two young boys had lost their mum. They were what mattered. Her funeral should have been private. To allow the boys that privacy. And then a public memorial for her fans.
