Ya, I think you explain yourself just right and not sure what you would change here. “Grouchy Dad” needs to come out sometimes and the little ‘nip or bark’ from a dog is a perfect descriptor for our four or five year-old grandchildren, which they understand perfectly because of their dogs. Good stuff here, thanks!! Of course as grandparents we tend to roll over more and let the parents’ grouchy personalities rise to the top.

I don't think I explained myself very well here. I am not talking about being a jerk or losing your temper to lay down the law. You need to always be very calm and controlled. But you need to be very clear and direct in your leadership.
