Here's a tip...you can also print out the image onto 'tracing paper' and then transfer the image right side up onto your painted background using decoupage medium. No need to rub off the paper! :)

May I ask what transfer paper is? Do i get it at the craft store?
@tthomas184 Жыл бұрын
@@toriesepahmd6468 Its tracing paper. Transfer paper is something else. It's usually a thin paper covered with graphite that is used to transfer a line drawing to another sheet of paper , by pressing down with a stylus or ballpoint pen. It also comes in white to transfer to a dark surface. I don't know what material the white is but the process is the same. Most craft stores should carry it, an art supply store will have it too.

I love your experiments with image transfers! I do Goldens' brand fast image transfer, and the fluid matte medium is so expensive! I'm doing a bench with panels that I want to use other peoples images on, but it's of a vacation spot I visit, and want to live in someday, so I don't want to piss off the locals! This is a way of editing carefully chosen pics and making them more my own than other methods afford. Thanks so much, I'm pretty excited now; I had resigned to using lesser pics than I originally wanted b/c I can't afford to purchase use of 6 images!

You're so inspiring! I've used image transfer in art for more than a decade now, but always had to use magazine images because they transferred best since I don't have a laser printer. Never could figure out how to use inkjet for a good transfer. I don't know why I didn't ever try your techniques (well, I didn't even try because the other worked so well and is very similar to what you do), but I didn't, and now I see how to do it. lol. you are adorable and informative. For some reason, after watching your video, I am feeling very happy, creative, inspired, and optimistic! I am remodeling my bathroom and I was thinking about painting over my tile and doing like a refinishing glaze technique with an acrylic resin topcoat to protect the new finish. BUT...now, I'm thinking, ...why not create my own unique glass tiles~!!!??? I am excited I'm going to go to our dollar store and get a bunch of picture frames with glass and experiment. I bet you could even use mirrors! Other than broken windows, or broken mirrors, I can't think of how else to get cheaper glass other than going to the dollar store getting those little picture frames there for their glass inserts. Or... even photo transfer like you did on the glass but then put those pieces of glass into acrylic pour and make those little individual strong acrylic tiles that will be durable enough to last in the shower and be strong enough to last through cleaning processes? I don't know? Like I said, you've inspired me~! There's one thing I can say for sure, my tile in my bathroom is going to be anything but boring~! I'll let you know how it goes if you're curious. 🙂 I'm going with an oil rubbed bronze look with some metallic copper as highlights in my bathroom. This will be such a cool way to totally customize and beautify my remodel project on a budget!!! Thank you for the inspiration!

@@katescarratt4267 thank you so much for your care and reply! i am successfully using this technique to make a completely unique wall in my bathroom. I accidentally broke a couple pieces of glass (gotten from picture frames from the dollar tree so the Glass is very thin... but it works!) The broken glass has actually made it more beautiful and unique. I just have to be careful of course when working with the broken pieces, of course, but so far this has made my wall completely shiny and so unique! I will create a quick video & share the link with you here when I am all done. I love your channel - your smile and carefree attitude along with your great ideas and techniques! Hi Nitsa, thank you for all of your helpful videos. I would like to purchase an inkjet printer that uses pigment based ink and, among other things, would like to use it to create transfers. Can you tell me whether this process will work with pigment ink? I believe your printer may use dye based ink? Appreciate any knowledge you may have on this, I expect others may have either type and so it would be useful to know if there are any differences or if both work the same (could be an idea for a new video? :)).
@NitsaCreativeStudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie, myself I don't have access to pigment ink type printer but I read a little about it. What I found is that the pigment ink is not water soluble. So my guess is that this process will not work with a pigment ink printer. Seems like these printers are more available recently so I will definitely have to add a disclaimer in my next book. Thank you for your question 👍
@charliemcquillan70582 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your time considering this, it is much appreciated. That’s what I thought but an expert second opinion is always worthwhile. I’ll probably go with the pigment ink printer as I want to paint over some printed images and so having non water soluble ink is necessary. I’ll let you know if I have any luck with any transferring techniques. All the best, Charlie.

@NitsaCreativeStudio2 жыл бұрын
Sandy, its difficult to time it exactly because it depends on how much medium I applied and even the weather. I pull it a little at the corner to see if it's okay to peel the paper. Also make sure at first you're only peeling the "top part" of the paper without touching the image yet.

This did not work for me after a bunch of tries to transfer to a piece of quality watercolor paper. I think my inkjet printer paper is a little too thick maybe? The paper is difficult to rub off even with different amounts of paint, and when it does rub off, the image comes off with it. I tried rubbing newly printed image, I tried dried image, I tried some paint, I tried more paint, I tried spritzing back of image with water. Nothing worked. Oh well, on to a different project.
