Nice painting! I use B&P ships with the Skirmisher Freebooters Fate, which is a German game, but there’s also an English version available.

AD&D's Forgotten Realms 'Pirates of Fallen Stars'. The book has chapters on the ships types, movement and combat. Your ships are pretty awesome!

Thanks making this video GamingGeek. It reminded me of my mission to print a printableScenery boat once I had a tuned printer with an auto-leveler installed. I decided to increase the size of the boat pirate to 115% so it would look suitable for 30mm minis.

Little hint to anyone building these with regards to dowel size. I got 3/16" and 1/4", as per the Printable Scenery directions, but they are too big for the pieces on the deck floor. Had to sand down a bit to get them in there. Same with the rigging pieces. I printed Imperial, but holes were still too small. So, I printed all the imperial rigging pieces at 104%. Still a snug fit but works nicely. I ordered some 4mm and 6mm dowels and when they arrive I will test them with the metric rigging pieces to see if those work better (also for the holes on deck for masts.)

Yeah, I had to sand down my dowel end to get it in the deck. The rigging pieces fit though, albeit snug.

I’m having trouble, I ordered 4mm and 6mm dowels but they’re too small! I’d much rather have a larger dowel that I can sand down than wonky masts that I’m having to stuff with green stuff etc.

@@bard.college Are you sure you printed out the metric version of the masting connectors? The file contains both metric and English measurements.

the lower sails would not be unfurled for battle, use some soaked and rolled up kitchen roll for the bottom sail ;-)

Me again! Lol so what use did you give the black ship? You count it as another galleon? Or what type of ship do you use it as? I don't own this game yet but I want to print it out too just not sure what would be the use of it for blood and plunder?
@gaminggeek241
@gaminggeek241 10 ай бұрын
Yeah, B&P is a historical game so you have to fudge the rules to run the black ship (with skellies). It's purely a fantastical "skin" using normal rules for a galleon.
@MrRrleonc689
@MrRrleonc689 10 ай бұрын
Couple of questions, did you need supports to print those ships and have you printed the galleon from printable scenery yet?
@gaminggeek241
@gaminggeek241 10 ай бұрын
No supports needed due to the fact that you use wooden dowels for the masts. I have not printed the galleon--that ship looks huge!

There's Cutlass! from Black Scorpion Miniatures - they do some cracking good miniatures also with some fantasy ones too. Rules can be downloaded as a free PDF. www.blackscorpionminiatures.com/product-category/cutlass/

From the rules themselves: "Cutlass games are designed to take place on land, in port or similar. There’s no reason why you can’t use the combat and campaign system within a ship based game though. When using ships they tend to be the main focus and require dedicated rules. Our focus is on the miniatures themselves. ". I guess it's up to the individual whether they meet their needs or not

Hi there, i finally got my version of the new Heroquest and i heared people talking about the hot water method to straighten bent areas of miniatures. What temperature do you use? I am a lil scared to use to hot water and fuck something up. Cool channel btw!
@gaminggeek241
@gaminggeek241 2 жыл бұрын
I microwave the water in a small bowl until it is steaming, even boiling a little. You can't really mess up the plastic--just be careful that you don't burn your fingers when you dip it in. After shaping the bent piece to where you want it, run it under cold tap water (or dip in a second bowl with ice water) and it should retain its shape.

Your sails look great, but they would interfere with D&D game play. I made sails that are mostly still tied up close to the mast (like they haven't been released yet). Not functional for sailing, but still give the look of sails and great game play. I used cloth, soaked in 50/50 pva and let dry so they are stiff.

Did you print the pieces with supports on build plate? I just started printing the middle section and my Prusa Mini seems to be able to do it, but my MK3S has some slight drooping while printing the rear section. I'm letting the mini continue, but reprinting the rear on my MK3S with supports on build plate, but man, that's a lot of filament for just the supports and worried it's going to be hard to remove.....
@gaminggeek241

I did not use supports. I have drooping as well but usually cut away with clippers. If you don't like that, try lowering your extruder temperature to minimize drooping.

@@gaminggeek241 I printed the front section without supports and had no drooping. Dropped temp 5 degrees (to 200C from 205C) and went to "Bridging Flow" in Prusa Slicer and lowered that from .95 to .90. Worked great.

Thanks for the sub! It is 18" (460mm) high at center mast and 21" (530mm) in length. You can change these based off of how long you make the masts.
