If we hire builders for the sniper tower we can just make the prisoners build the rest and keep a huge portion of our funding so we can build more sniper towers. What are they gunna do purposely build faulty equipment secret storage spaces and easily escapable holding cells. Not likely when we’ve got 4 snipers per convict.

Though he mentioned prison labor. You can use prisoners to cut the wood into lumber and then maybe assemble that into beds, but Spiffing Brit skipped that step and just sold the logs/tea. This is done entirely by the workers and doesn't involve any prison labor.

When I build a shower, I always put patrolling armed guards there. Or yeah, overly expensive luxury cells for max security and legendary prisoners (otherwise I couldn’t afford it) with their own showers, but those guys attack each other for no reason anyway so...🤷♀️

@@CrazyNerdMonkey I think that has to be a specific punishment, like community service or some such. Prisons, to my knowledge, instead use a voluntary prison work system. Inmates do jobs the prison can get them access to, sometimes outside of the prison. Most of the payment for said work is recouped by the prison to help pay for their incarceration. (prisons are insanely expensive to run, there's no way to make them profitable through labor, they rely on government payment for incarceration, the labor just cuts into the margins.) As a practice it was originally developed as a way to help deal with prisoners by giving them something productive to do instead of just stewing in misery. Ideally it'd also give them access to useful job training but that's rather difficult. So most prison work programs give very, very poor pay for menial labor. Though if I remember the stats it's still shown better results than no work programs at all.

I've returned to this sketch multiple times since it came out, and it really is just pitch-perfect. The acting, the timing, the tiny nuances in the facial expressions - all brilliant. I also love 'Just Business', but it's really an internet-specific style. _This_ sketch feels to me like a pilot for a Door Monster prison-office comedy, which I would watch all of without hesitation.

i often leave the outer section open so that the prisoners come up from their tunnel right at the outer wall of the prison and still have a long distance to run through a maze of fences full of armed guards, dogs and snipers until they reach the edge of the map
