Yes, I love that she never craps on the food she's eating, especially the prison food since this is an attempt at people behind bars to give their lives some semblance of normalcy and variety while they're doing time. It's really quite refreshing and soooo much better than people acting like they swallowed a live porcupine for views and comments.

+Lambkins 18 they buy it off the commissary. I think it's a state by state basis as to what is available, for example, the state prison I work in doesn't offer cream cheese on commissary, so the cheesecake is out. I'm not for sure if my prison offers pork rinds or not.

thats a cadillac of tamales, when I was locked up we just used the packet of ramen and when it was done we spread half a mayo packet, half a hot sauce packet, and sprinkled the seasoning packet to salt it up and it was AMAZING. I even maid mexican style rice using instant rice, ketchup, salt packet and some of the chicken broth from the soups we got with lunch ;)

Emmy, I think what you're doing when you show prison recipes is phenomenal. I know the incarcerated population of America feels like they have lost touch. Food bands communities together, and by showing us how to make the food they make, it's giving us a glimpse of their experiences. I think that is integral in re-humanizing them to the outside world, something they will need to reintegrate into society when they are released. Thank you.

I had a friend show me this but he used a bag of regular doritos instead of pork rinds, canned frito bean dip, and frito cheese dip for the cheese. Then he microwaved it for a minute and it tasted like an enchilada with the cheese melted on top.

I love mayo on mine. I'm currently waiting on mine to finish baking under my couch cushions as I type this. Gotta hold my maltipoo puppy for the next half hour because she keeps trying to dig it out from under the cushion. Thx for helping me remember how to make this. This version of the recipe is close to how I made it when I was in prison. Ahh, the memories. 😌 *sigh* no more locked doors for this chick. Gave back my number back in 2012 and never looked back. Except on the occasion I want a significant other to have a taste of life behind bars. Literally. Ha. Ha.

I have a friend who is in prison currently, and he would tell me the things that they would make with the limited food they could get at the canteen when he wrote. Pork rinds are a staple and kind of used as a trading currency where he is at. It was super interesting to read about, and it's kind of nice to see these types of recipes in action!

:o back in college, I used to make these sorts of things! our room had no cooking stuff but it had a hot and cold tap. i used to make these using chicharon, these really cheap cheese flavored corn chips, and a calamansi pancit canton. the way i did it was to cook the noodles until they're mushy first in a bag then crush and dump everything in it! tastes super good! eventually, though, every one caught wind of it and it was hard to make another one without other people asking for a portion :v

We would make burritos. Just a pack of ramen, crushed. The season pack, and using the season packet added 2 packs of water. Microwave for 45 seconds. Wrap in a towel for 2 minutes.

my favorite prison tamale is the one with hot cheetos. recipe: 2 big bags of hot cheetos 4 toasted bread 4 jumbo slim Jim's 2 pickles 2-4 slices of ham . crush the hot cheetos cut the slim Jim's, pickles and ham crush the bread mix the bread and hot cheetos add 2 1/2 cups of bowling water let it cook. put the mixture on a plastic bag. spread it and put the slim Jim pickles and ham in the center. fold it in wrap it up and enjoy

I have a simple prison recipe my dad taught me. Im not sure if youve dontnit yet. Pour hot water into some Ramen noodles let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes drain the water. get some chili and some fritos. Crush up the fritos and mix it withthe Ramen noodles and chili and walah. It helps the inmates gain weight and stay big apparently. It's real good though
