Joan's patronizing disdain for Rodney is hilarious. Love her facial expressions when she's disgusted with him. It occurred to me that there are scenes in Prisoner that you could absolutely add a laugh track to and get away with it. There was so much comedy in this episode, it was great. Joan has become a sort of tragic but hilarious Basil Fawlty character, constantly fuming as everything goes wrong around her. Rodney is Manuel.

Sometimes Joan doesn't have to say a word. Her snickers, sneers, and smirks are comedy gold. Keep an eye on her even when she's just in the background of a scene. Her facial expressions/eyerolls are hilarious. Hate the character, but love the actress.

I'm not sure I would even give Rodney the credit of being as smart as Manuel to be honest. And he's certainly nowhere near as likeable. In fact Rodney's recent racist dabblings have painted him as more of the Major character, where he is regaling Basil with tales of explaining the difference between Indians and West Indians to his long suffering wife. lol

@Tom Fallon I really miss the original characters of this series. They made the series more dramatic and like a real prison. The second half was hard to watch because they changed it into a more of a comedy than a drama. Some of the episodes were okay but not like the original half.

@Ray Mason The viewers aren't complaining against the uploader, they are complaining about the writing and the acting (characters) and it is good that they are allowed to have their own commentary about the show because it makes the viewing more honest and interesting. I have had many things to say about the show which gave me a good decision not to buy the DVD because I didn't know that they removed so many of the good characters from the first half of the series. So just let people say what they have to say. It's all about the freedom to do so.

@Lesley Thwaites Thank you for all of your honest comments about this show, we have someone on here who thinks that we should have the same commentary as the other. The show WAS on a down point for a long time and we should have the right to say what we want to say about the show. The writing and characters were sloppy and I almost didn't get to this part, but I figured I may as well finish the show. But I do agree with many of your comments and input. Have a great day!

It is only right that Meg, after not having that all much to do of late, is now brought in front and centre to see the Freak gets her comeuppance. It's not only pay off for her having to put up with Joan since she arrived at Wentworth but entirely appropriate for the one character who has been on the show since day 1.

I watched the last 3 episodes on dvd I 200, and when I saw Merle for the first time, she annoyed me, but I have been watching the whole serie we the sedond time through, the last time Merle was tolerable. This time I have come to realize you have to see her as a 4 year old in an adults body, in every aspect. So now I can see what a fantastic job Roseanna Hull did. I like Merle 😊😊. She's such a sweetheart. But l hate seeing people pick on the poor girl & using her for their own ends. Ok she's not the brightest character in the show and she needs more: One 2 One Support, People to understand and she needs more help.People can be so cruel - people like spider need a slap. Merle has to be one of my favourite characters in this show. Merle should not be in Wentworth or any other prison for that matter. She shouldn't be but in a mental health hospital or a place with padded cell. Surely a place like a community home. where she still gets the right help & support, and she still gets some independence & place where she can make friends. We have them in the uk. They still get a lot of help & support, they still get to keep their independence & still make friends. But she shouldn't be in prison and she shouldn't be in a padded cell. The actress that played merle she played her so well. she's an amazing actress.

Rodney's "Before I lose my temper.." has a somewhat hollow ring to it. Considering at least 2 of the women present have already smacked him senseless. Possibly more. (He gets hit that often it's like watching an episode of 'Bottom' half of the time. lol)

"Divide & Conquer" is indeed a useful control tool. In a normal situation, with normal people. As already pointed out by one of the head shrinkers in an episode a long way back (as far back as the 300's even) these women are in prison because they do not have a normal understanding of the link between actions.. and consequences. Attempting something like making other people take the brunt of the punishment for Rita's misdemeanors, will undoubtedly just make everyone far more likely to all gang up on the oppressor. Whereas before they were already sort of fractured to an extent. HELL! It's me that should be running this prison! GIZZA JOB!!

Bloody media people and their stories. The storyline is very apt with our current situation, (locked in our cells) and removing all privileges. From one extreme to another, Reynolds was too soft but Joan too draconian. Merle is starting to get annoying of late. Just 16 episodes left

Well , it's always nice to know that every room in the prison is open and available to the prisoners; whether it's the officer's Lounge, the boiler room, where you can hide dead bodies have your own pantry and make booze anytime you want, the reception area the Governor's Office, storage areas to catch mice, and of course the workshop is always available for making weapons and keys for the cells. I should have headphones that good. The women have more accessibility to the prison then I would at a Holiday Inn. Ah! PCBH.
