People with some form of retardation dont really work that way. They can paint a canvas like the best artists in the world but not be able to answer a basic english test. Each person has something different to them. Eventhough he may have the iq of a 10 year old, that doesnt mean that he is unintelligent. Hes just unable to function in the same way that most adults do. But he can still perform a lot of "adult tasks" just in his own unique way.

You can definitely see in this scene how socially awkward detective Loki is. He really only talks about job related stuff. He pretty much awkwardly avoids small talk with the mother in the beginning of this scene. And in a way disregards her grieving and crying. Most people would comfort her but he stays silent and looks really uncomfortable.

Personally and as strange as it might be but I think Hugh Jackman's performance in this film is one of the best acting roles ever played. The man was able to make the viewers feel what it must be like to have your own daughter kidnapped. A very powerful man who felt powerless the entire time. Had me gripped.
@crashfan99972 жыл бұрын
I agree tbh. Amazing performance by him, he got the horrified, helpless and desperate look of a father whose daughter has been kidnapped, spot on. He was also unstable as a result and resorted to alcohol later on in the movie and his acting made it a believable transition.

Three of the main actors in the film have been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hugh Jackman famously plays Wolverine/Logan in the X-Men series, Terrence Howard starred as Rhodey in Iron Man (2008) (before being replaced by Don Cheadle in the film's sequels), and Jake Gyllenhaal played Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019). In addition, Viola Davis has appeared in the DCEU as Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad (2016). David Dastmalchian has appeared in both the MCU as Kurt in the Ant-Man series (2015-2018) and the DCEU as Abner Krill/Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad (2021). Paul Dano played Edward Nashton/ The Riddler in The Batman (2022).

Hugh Jackmans character in this movie is one of the most unsympathetic people I’ve ever seen in a movie. Parental love for his daughter just simply doesn’t cut it as an excuse for the behavior you see in this film. Some of which is down right contemptible, and in no way plays a part in finding his daughter. Like guilting Loki when they think the girls are dead, by telling him he wasted time. Time that was only wasted because he was out looking for a guy the dad had kidnapped! Just a straight up piece of shit move. If it wasn’t for Loki that girl would have died, and I would have been rooting for the child murdering serial killer by the end.
@bballstarcrazy82 жыл бұрын
Has any of your children ever been kidnapped? Never make the mistake of judging someone when they are undergoing extraordinary circumstances, because you'll never know how you would react until it happens to you.

@@bballstarcrazy8 when people are undergoing extraordinary circumstances, is precisely the time to judge them. Because such times reveal their fundamental character. And should I find myself in similar circumstances to those I have judged, but faring no better, then my judgment will apply the same to me as it does to them.
@bballstarcrazy82 жыл бұрын
@@fredrik8500 I'd say that's a fair response, albeit very naive IMO. Paul Dano's character told Dover "They didn't cry till I left them.". Mentally ill or not, If my kid is missing and someone says that shit to my face, all bets are off and I would be willing to do anything to get the child back. This is a movie, reality is far more dark, people kidnap children and do DESPICABLE things for all sorts of fucked up reasons. As far him shaming Loki, yea its fucked up but the guy just found out his daughter was most likely murdered. When he shames Loki, he's really shaming himself but too grief stricken too realize it. We are all human and capable of making the wrong decisions.

@@bballstarcrazy8 "This is a movie, reality is far more dark, people kidnap children and do DESPICABLE things for all sorts of fucked up reasons." Dano's character isn't really mentally ill, he's mentally handicapped. Which is an important distinction. Though he has the body of a grown man, he has the mind of a child, and in a moral sense should be viewed as a kid. Because he is. And what you're basically telling me, is that you would without question torture and beat a child for days on end, on the off chance it could lead to you getting your kid back... This does not make you a good person or parent. In fact, it makes you kynda shitty as both.

@@fredrik8500 Never said it makes me a good person, I said it makes me human because I would want my kid back. Dano tells Dover "They didn't cry until I left them", At that point its pretty safe to assume he took them. Ok so where are they? Are they still alive? Do they need water?
