My favourite album EVER. I would not have gotten into music if not for this record.

Easily my favorite studio album by Judas Priest and one of the most iconic metal records ever.

Spooky Tooth was the original artist of Better By You, Better Than Me. JP wasn’t the only band to cover it either, there was a German band called Armageddon in 71 that did it.

I enjoyed your take on Stained Class and Priest in general. The exception would be your comment about Halford being ‘one of the top 10 vocalists ever in Heavy Metal’. Priest fan or not, in his prime, that guy was (and maybe still is) unreal. There’s a few who rival his natural talent, no question, but VERY few. Everyone has favorite bands and singers and that definitely can influence our opinion. But after listening to “Run of The Mill”, “Victim of Changes”, “The Sentinel”, “Painkiller”, etc.,... Well that’s about all I have to say. Anyway, like your stuff.

Thanks for your comment. Halford is arguably the best technical singer in metal ever (someone like Mike Patton does much more than metal, so I wouldn't count him as a metal singer.) but I used top 10 as a general way, should have probably said top 3. He is an Unreal singer, especially in the 70's and after he stopped drinking, I can't believe he can still mostly hit those high notes live.

@@PrisonforKids Hey look i understand these are your opinions, i respect that. But i am a Priest fan since 1979 and i just don't understand how you could diss Turbo and Ram It Down. They are awesome albums, they tried something different to get more radio play, they weren't really getting pro moted very well. The production was great on these albums with some wicked killer riffs and well always Rob's voice is epic. Iron Maiden did the same thing, so did Metallica, pretty much every metal band went a little commercial so they could get more of themselves out there and be known.

Current assessible after playing the original vinyl: Average track quality 4 stars: most consistent Priest record which automatically makes this my pick for them (post-Gull). The remastering on this one is ok (better than nearly/maybe all of their remasters) but the original vinyl is waaaay better. Your assessment is truly, the earliest works stand the strongest because of less studio tricks more focus on musicianship as opposed to courting trends.

Thin Lizzy also had a twin attack. Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham. Not as Heavy, but just as good.

Thin Lizzy is before Judas Priest and probably the reason many bands have a twin guitar attack. I completely forgot about them as I was talking in the video. For sure Thin Lizzy inspired many metal bands, from Priest, Tallica and others. Thanks for your thoughts!

I have a theory that this was the first real heavy metal album because it has no blues element. Previously released music identified as “heavy metal” still had that blues flavor to one extent or another. “Stained Class” doesn’t, and most heavy metal moving forward was not bluesy either.

If you play it backwards you gave a satanic message.
