You're welcome. The journeys got better, but the beginning was rough. Best of luck.

It's the wonderful thing about KZbinrs sharing the problems they encounter while traveling - some people want to portray it as something idyllic where nothing ever, ever goes wrong. Speaking for myself, I have learned an important lesson from your incident with the inverter : I suggest that if any of us is going to install an electrical system (or anything else, really) with a particular function in mind, we should bring, if possible, the equipment to the business that is installing the electricals and have them test it out before they get too far along or finalize putting everything in place.

Thanks for the comment. Your deduction is wise. Now, whenever possible, if I want to addon to my Prius camping setup, I try to build in redundancy. For example, now in addition to the 1000 watt inverter, I carry a Jackery 1500 solar generator. Additionally I have a battery power pack to jump the car battery if I inadvertently kill the car battery by not turning off the inverter when the car is off (learned from experience). So now if the inverter fails, the Jackery provides all the AC and DC power I need for an entire trip. Happy travels and best of luck.

I’m from Savannah Georgia and living in Springfield Missouri now. I’ve thought about getting a Prius and car camping across America. I’m 62 now and drawing my SS so I’d be self sufficient.

Best of luck. I'm now 67 with wonky hips and this summer will be a critical one for me as I intend to do a lot of Prius camping with some new accessories to make it easier, all while pulling my motorcycle behind. Intend to document it all here as well.

You are bound and determined to get every aspect of an adventure, you can get out of a simple camping trip. LoL 😎. As John and Miriam Travelvlogs say, " The adventure doesn't start until the plan falls apart." I'm glad, despite the obstacles, you keep chasing your dreams. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. .

Thank you for the kind words. John and Miriam have some wisdom there. Just started editing Day 3 and it gets much better. In fact the whole trip gets better.

Like me tough old dude who likes Fleetwood! Roll with it and smile! Concerned about inverter. I know it's a done deal but if your CPAP like mine draws so little a 300 watt pure sine is all you need. Cheap enough to have spare and easy to swap. That 1k unit wastes a lot of energy running it's internals. Safe travels.

I have a Prius and use a Milliard Tri Folding Mattress with Washable Cover Space Saver Single Size (75 inches x 25 inches x 4 inches) memory foam mattress after suffering from leaking air mattress. About $80.00 US at Amazon, Perfect! It's very nice because when it's folded it easily fits under the privacy cover in the back with the seats up.

I've seen videos of those Jeff. Good to hear first hand reviews. I thought about them but decided they are bulky and take up a lot of room when not in use. I'm headed from Niagara Falls to Miami next week and using a Therma-a-rest Mondoking 3D for the first time. Will definitely report on it when back. I want to take long extended trips and have already learned that comfortable sleeping is the critical issue. Without it, Prius travel isn't worth doing, imho. Good luck in your travels.

@@BoondockingBears An adventure it was. Really a tough start for ya. I have that trifold mattress and this may sound weird but I put my Thermarest on top of it. The trifold was a little bit too solid for me. I only weigh about 135 and not a youngster so need more comfort.. By doubling up it is very comfortable. Just moved form the 2015 Prius to the 2019 Rav4 Hybrid. Actually the Prius has as much or more room. I like the Rav4 drive better though. I always check in with you and enjoy you. Thanks!

That's the exact same Walmart I overnighted in 2 days in a row last year. And my car's alternator went out on the way home (500 miles from home). I, too, survived that. Best to have emergency money since you can never know if you'll need a mechanic. I don't own a Prius, but I've rented a few. I was at that Walmart in the winter, so it was cool overnight, but still dang humid. Just down the road is a great beach.

I remove the Prius passenger seat and center console I added a bunch of milk crates some crutches to provide support a crib frame and mattress and some smaller pieces of angle iron. All this was due to my weight I was 360 lbs. I slept very well.

Great to see you again! Sorry to hear about your trip problems, but glad you were able to overcome them. Most videos I look forward to video footage, but your storytelling is SO, so good... thank you! I hope you're in good health, and all is well! :) Hugs from Peru.

Looks like you've proved that great American philosopher, Mike Tyson, correct; he said,"Everyone's got a plan... until they get punched in the face". Sounds like you made the best of it....good on ya. Couple questions re your Napier. Are you getting much use out of it? Have you been thru any big (like AZ) wind storms with it yet? Thanks..be well !!
@BoondockingBears3 жыл бұрын
Sorry that i missed your comment earlier. No I don't get much use of the Napier. I plan to sell it in fact. It is too difficult to put up with my wonky hips. Instead, i went with the Napier 61000 which is similar to the Habitents. One of the things I hate about Prius camping is the bugs. So I also bought a Clam Traveler that sets up in less than a minute and gives me a place for a drink at night without bathing in Deep Woods Off first. That said, all this is new and untested. I'll head out in the spring to give it a good old workout and report back on the channel.

we just got back from 17 days out, the 2 year old pup was a mess in his first big travel adventure. he tore up the screen door and 2 window blinds when we went to get groceries. we bought him a carrier at the thrift store (she left the one at home thinking we wouldn't need it). but by the end of the trip he had progressed 87%. now when i go for the truck, he's ready to go.

Hey I'm not sure if you mentioned it in any of your videos but what kind of gas mileage are you getting in your Prius pulling all of your stuff including your Burgman 650? I really need to know I'm very interested in doing literally the same thing you are right now thank you so much for your time

@@BoondockingBears that's not bad at all I'm just trying to figure out if I should move into that from my 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan I don't get very good gas mileage in the city but on the freeway it is okay at 25 MPG I absolutely love the concept of the Prius to travel
