Wet paper towels are another good option. Once you lift that red lollipop, wait for the hissing to stop and look for light around the edges before raising the actual door handle to retract the bayonets. A good tip for the baggage door is to place your foot against the bottom edge and on rotation of the handle counterclockwise, wait for that seal to also deflate prior to pulling it inward. The inertia reel cables tend to want to pull it in as soon as the handle is fully released.

Another quick request. The actual use of the doors and how they close, and what it then looks like on the inside. Different aircraft and manufacturers have different methods. I'm sure I've seen in some simulations that some of these doors have a seat on the inside too...... PS you put "Here is a quick look at the door SEAT on.....". Which is one of the reasons I was excited to see this video

Thank you for the spelling error...I can do another video from the inside of the door. We do not have a seat on the door, rather we have a jumpseat in the cabinet across from it.

Nice video...Once departed in similar Gulfstream from rainy environment and had the door seal, still wet, freeze against the door frame preventing its retraction after landing at a frozen airport (Iqualit Canada) during a tech stop. We noticed the stiff door seal and decided to use the baggage door as pass through for credit card and paperwork rather than try to open the main door. All worked out on the other side as we landed in warmer environment. FWIW...!

Was flying from Florida years ago as a passenger in a DC-9, we hit some pretty severe turbulence, cabin pressure was lost and all the oxygen masks came down. It seemed like the pilot headed for the deck pretty quickly as we made an emergency landing in Charlotte, NC. Pretty harrowing experience.

That was really neat thanks for sharing that I often wondered where the bayonets went in the door . We manufactured them bayonets for Gulfstream. Can you see the little orange dots that are on the bayonets when the door is closed? I'm thinking they are used for some type of indicator when the door is closed?

Q: If the seal starts to fail can you overcome enough to you reach a safe altitude ?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 3 жыл бұрын
That depends on how much of the seal fails, but very likely yes. The outflow valve would close to compensate for the additional leakage.

If a seal loses all pressure suddenly at FL450 is there time to descend reasonably or is it a full-blown emergency descent?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 3 жыл бұрын
Very likely it would be a slow pressurization loss. What would happen immediately is the outflow valve would close fully to reduce the impact (or potentially eliminate it). Remember that air is still rushing into the plane from the pressurization system.
