As an Australian I don't understand America's persistent persecution of the poor and persecution is the only word for it.We had a taste of this under our own conservatives and the last conservative PM was summarily removed along with his Party because we saw what is happening in the US and its instability.

Mr. Desmond! Amazing conversation. Thank you so much for your work! You mentioned how we think about a UBI as being incredibly expensive. I'm wondering how we calculate how expensive poverty is? Decades of no dental care or preventative health care, debt collectors, displacement, all the things you mentioned as layering weight on the impoverished everyday. Do we have a way to calculate what we are losing when we these people, under the weight of poverty, aren't really able to become productive members of society? Is it possible a UBI is less expensive than poverty?
