Svempa used run a tow truck business that grew to be a SCANIA custom build company. He had a race truck in yellow in the 90s that war pretty famous. I think You're absolutely right: The truck standards in the US need to change. Just an insane behaviour on US-part -to stand in the way of future progress. All north America and Canada need to think in the longer perspective; on what is the most effective and better future for them. Sure: The US truckbuilders would take a serious hit -by making Euro Trucks available on their markets. But as mentioned: The upside/reward in the long run; would be like boosting efficiency close to a time machine over a few year period. This on all aspects. The need to reevaulate is essential; when 25 and 15 year old Euro trucks outperform -everything that is made available on their own markets. The day a another brand Truck outperforms a SCANIA Truck: I'd sure would like to have that avalable for my company -as an alternative investment choice.

You can tell the quality of a truck by the attention to detail and how it does with work over the test of time. Yes every truck will have wear and tear and deteriorate. Certain manufacturers after 12 months of hard work will be falling apart and just rattling. I personally find scanias hold the test of time and generally if there looked after will last 5 years or more before needing any real work
@shaggingsАй бұрын
If they are uses for work and have over 1 million kms and haul serious weight like up norrh, they are gonna be falling apart in 7 years of use and honestly could use a proper rebuild just to avoid being in the shop every week...speaking from experience. PS. Man I love it when the 16.4 starts pissing coolant out from the head....

While you may think of the 3 axle version as very American, once you go across the border into Norway and during winter, you will get surprised. Due to traction issues on the slippery stuff, most of the trucks going further north are 3 axles with drive on the rear. The difference is clear every winter when the southern European trucks show up, they tend to get stuck wheelspinning at the mountain crossings, even after chaining up. Since the weather changes quickly, it can put you in an icy soup quicker than you realize.

I used to own several Scanias in Germany, moved to Canada about 1.5 years ago, drove Kenworth and now Freightliner. Other than the sleeper size I miss everything from the Scania. It's really sad how bad american trucks actually are and having no cab air-ride in the front, just bolted to the frame should be illegal. It's beyond me how truck manufacturers here seem to not care about the drivers at all. I would love to see Scania in the north american market and I would dream to see a Longline version that is not a show truck so it not only would match but exceed american sleeper sizes. One can only hope and dream. Keep up the good work Bruce, I'll follow your journey and maybe if you want we can meet sometime and chat about my experiences and comparisons for trucking and trucks between Europe (or Germany especially) and North America.

I've actually seen the classic Scanias in New Jersey a couple times! I guess they're still hanging around in that area. Can't wait to see if Scania will come back to the US again or not. If they do, I will sell my soul to the devil if i have to in order to buy one!!

Epic series of videos... You sure are a long way from Livingston Tennessee or Jamestown Tennessee over there that's for sure.. can you imagine the culture shock of some of those people landing in one of those haulers that we have down here in Northern Tennessee, stay safe over there certain parts of that country is about to get really hot😢. I wonder just how many truck drivers the European nations altogether have over there and I wonder what percentage of the drivers drive scanias, anyhow when the new wears off of that truck you're getting brought over let me take it for a month or two and give it a good test run😂❤
