What a well engineered part. A lot of people make the mistake of getting a big, low density core when they would have less lag, less weight, and lower charge air temps with a decent core.

You won't find one even close to this from a quality standpoint for a Civic. The way they make this thing is typically only seen on GTR level and higher cars. It's ridiculous.

How does it compare to the mishimoto in term of size and charge pipes?

After comparing the specs of the Mishimoto vs PRL intercoolers.... the volume of each came out as this: Mishimoto - 27.5" x 6.5" x 3.5'' = 10.25L PRL - 25.5'' x 4'' x 6.3'' = 10.53L

Honestly, I'm not sure we'll ever get around to doing that one. But I've had the HKS valve on other cars. It's a great valve and I'd feel confident to purchase it if you're on the fence.

What are your thoughts on the PRL intercooler kit vs the 27won? The PRL is more widely available but a lot of people swear by the 27won kit.

I'm not super familiar with the 27Won but I don't think you can go wrong with either. Just having seen the PRL, it's extremely nice and very high quality. Probably one of the nicer intercooler kits I've ever seen to be honest.

what is the difference of with or without chargepipe? its okay to just buy the intercooler without the charge pipe?

If you have a stock turbo, the piping isn't going to change your experience/power a lot. However, one of the nice things about the PRL piping is that is has a meth bung in it. So if you plan to use stock turbo and you're on the fence about getting piping but you want to run methanol/water, that would be a good reason to get over the fence and get it.

Is it completely necessary to change charge pipes out as well? This will mainly be used on my daily driver si.. not for track use. And if I do end up getting the intercooler itself do i need anything extra for direct bolt on ?

The pipes are not critical. The most effective part of the upgrade is almost all in the core itself. This is a bolt-on kit and you do not need anything else.

Will this be a reasonable thing to get along with a catless dp and race MAF CAI, and a professional tune? I just placed the order but now I’m wondering if this is too big/high volume for the stock turbo.

For sure, we are still running the stock turbo on our Civic (for now) and it drives great, and spools quick with an upgraded intercooler.

Turbos will always have lag but if u get the charge pipes in this kit, the original turbos will have less lag

They should be CARB compliant, but best to double-check your local regulations, just in case. We don't see a CARB warning posted on them, anyway.

Nothing that you'll notice. The PRL piping features a smaller diameter on the hot side so that velocity and flow stay up. Nothing to worry about with turbo response here.
