He covers many different techniques Starts with watching the breath between 2 and 3 mins 3:30 Humming 4:30 Alternate nostril breath or purifier 7:50 Breath holding (2 beats in - 8 hold - 4 out) 11:30 Cooling breath - with rolled tongue 13:00 Cooling breath - smiling 13:50 Ocean sound breath - good for sleep

Good to hear feed back. As Dr Balasubramanian said it is more than 5000 years old technique. Tamil people were the inventors of Oogam (Oom chanting as well) several thousand years ago later pronounced as Yoga. I am sure Dr.Balasubramanian will understand "Nandri" in his native language/Tamil meaning Thanks! Nandri Dr. Balasubramanian! மிக்க நன்றி திரு.பாலசுப்ரமணியன்!

Hello Sir , thankyou for your workshop .Your instruction is so nice and clear .. I did the HUmming and Ujaji Throat Breathing) and alternative Nostril Breathing and it helped my voice recover from and tight throat and Laryngitus !

Thanks for a wonderful explanation of breathing techniques. Question: Do you have to alternate your inhale/exhale from each nose or always inhale through left and exhale with right nose in your thirumoolar breathing excercise? Please let me know, thanks.

Thank you for this Dr Balasubramanian, have you got advice on an example of a sequence, ie. how many rounds/which ones you can do for example rather in the morning/day and in the evening? Seeking help to understand ***Tirumular pranayama - breath holding .. 2-8-4 KEY exercise 2 counts inhale with chant 8 counts hold with chant 4 counts exhale with chant Here ..once exhalation is over..you ask to repeat the cycle.. come back to original position n breathe in...( At 10:26 of the video). Does it mean to do with the same nostril or alternate nostril?

same nostril, in a way its like one way journey i.e. always inhale in left and exhale in right.

Questions for thiroomolar pranayama: Are you suggesting that there is one chant for each count? Making it a total of 14 chants? And why do we inhale through the left nostril and exhale through the right nostril? Is alternating nostril breathing with the 2:8:4 ratio a different technique altogether? Regardign the thirumoolar pranayamaIs it supposed to be done inhale through left, hold and exhale through right repeatedly or is the next cycle supposed to be inhalation through right, hold and then exhale through left? Thanks!

Hi Sundar, Appreciate your good efforts making it reachable for all people. However please be aware of the technique "Tirumular pranayama - breath holding .. 2-8-4 KEY exercise" is called as KUMBHAKAM... And it is not advisable to practice without proper and experienced guru, could turn adverse efforts. SO PLEASE BE AWARE!!!! Thanks

have you read the new books on Breath and science of respiration. Suggest 3 books> BREATH by Nestor, THE BREATHINGN CURE by McKewon and Oxygen Advantage by McKewon. I humbly suggest that yoga/pranayama teachers at least study these books to see how it could help.

He tought several methods and Ramdev baba also teaches multiple. There are a few common. For example the 1st one he taught is called anulom vilom and taught by Ram dev baba also.
