The problem is that most don't know how rare these skill sets and knowledge is to most average people. I make primitive bows and realize that it's an esoteric passion. When I'm teaching someone, or just explaining how I make bows, I'm usually too excited to talk about it to be condescending, but that's just me. Lol

I think it’s because bon appetit understands that people want to see recipes and cooking methods rather than 6 chefs cooking a dish with only a tea towel and some radishes.

I liked seeing his reactions once she started cooking the food. I'm sure he's made plenty of campfire meals, but it was like he remembered that she is, after all, a professional chef. She went from literally not knowing how to stack the wood to expert mode once the fire was burning.

This is actually the key to how BA has got this channel so right - the personalities. Only other show I've ever seen get such serendipitous personalities in terms of good attitude and most importantly working well together is Masterchef Australia at the beginning.

This dude was awesome, I love learning for experts who are passionate and truly knowledgeable in their field. He wasn’t pushy or talking down to her, simply because she was a woman or a novice. I would love to learn from him. Also Molly seemed to be a great student. Really enjoyed this episode.

@@dvkevin he kept that bowdrill in a climate controlled environment. Otherwise it would have held too much moisture to create an ember in 30 flipping seconds. Plus he had “prepared" the fire board by using the set a few times, which helped draw out the moisture and speed the process along. Bowdrill fires in real life NEVER go that quickly. Plus, that was the fattest bowdrill kit I have ever seen by far. I think it was to have two people use it? Maybe he does that for the “classes" he teaches, but if he teaches people they can get an ember in 30 seconds, the dude is a fraud.

One thing that is especially cool about this is the fact that Molly is asking some really good questions. She’s a really good learner. Another cool thing is how educational this show is. Every time an expert talks about an aspect of cooking, I learn something. Really good teachers on this channel.
