The moral of the story is you ALWAYS pack the book!
I got to meet up with ‪@AnnaHazelnutt‬ to climb some boulders and chat about life. Our plans for the day went haywire when a car breakdown derailed the start of the day and a personal emergency derailed the end of it, but during the short time we had we got to talk about resilience, self-image, and climbing technique!
Anna breezed through the local sets - flashing 2 V7's & 1 V8, achieving a 100% tops rate and only falling once on the V6 warm up. Along the way it was insightful and inspiring to hear how she viewed her climbing journey.
Anna is doing an incredible job of combining cutting edge climbing with excellence in creativity and story telling, so much sure to subscribe to her!

This video was made possible by my buddy Miles Victor Szanto who operated the camera!
He runs an incredible AirBNB in J.Tree and will give ya a 10% discount if you mention me -

Re: practicing - I think it's good to think of it as practicing certain moves or sequence of moves as opposed to being caught up in whatever the climb as a whole has been graded. For example the crux of every climb is going to be harder than the remaining 50-90% most of the time.

pls could i have some advice, in terms of the fact i have just started competing, i am 16 and i need to know how to improve and transfere strength training into my comp climbs, thanks
@JosephDiazClimbs
@JosephDiazClimbs Жыл бұрын
I can’t speak directly to this - but my instinct is that as you continue to practice comp style climbs & drill accordingly the strength gains should automatically transfer over. Basically if you are drilling properly, the skill acquisition should directly unlock application of strength. This is best addressed by an in-person coach since everybody is unique, but fortunately you still have many years of strength & skill development ahead of you! So as long as you’re patient and consistent, there’s almost no limit to how good you can get!

Hmm.. intuitive would be if you knew what to do on climbs that are not your style though. The way you described it it sounds more like you know what to do on climbs that are your style, because you've done it many times before, and that's just practice, not intuition. (please don't read that in an angry voice, it's just a very minor point ;) ) I like your stuff, came across you first in a HMB video and I'm always impressed by your strength and flexibility, so keep on crushing!
