I spent over 20 years in the box in major market clubs from the early 80's through the early 00's. About 30,000 paid hours. Good times. That said, this video was refreshing af to watch because it showed so well what is going on. I don't work anymore and only fuck around making mixes for myself and a interested friends, but I am pleased to see such an an excellent video showing what the hell is going on with all "that button pushing" (as the non-dj haters call it). Very well done!

I would love to see more videos that show how you mix top 40 style tracks that contain a lot of lyrical sections! This is my main struggle since I am a mobile/wedding dj right now and I feel like I'm pretty limited with how I can transition from one pop song to the next.

I like this one more. Its not overdone. It doesnt really show too much hand movements which is ridiculous. For me djing is not really about how fast ur hand is, its about the vibe of the set and the overall music. Plus, the right patience when transitioning or twisting knobs at the right time. Thats just perfect. 👍👏

Too many people get stuck on the details. Mixing in key is great, but when you're number one priority is mixing in key, your mixes lose a lot of potential for great track transitions.

@@persiah7779 Not matching keys isn't a small detail. Most audience members can absolutely tell that something is not right when you're in 2 different keys. It's especially noticeable if those keys are a half step apart. It honestly sounds like shit. I know I'm gonna get flamed by the DJ community for my comments but that's my 2 cents.

I did! I practiced it a bit beforehand, just to get the counting and timing right. Helps that the songs are in a similar key too!

DJ Carlo Atendido taste is subjective , that’s a good thing :) do you also mix other music? could be fun for you , for example in techno you mix completely different , very long mixes compared to quicker transitions like in this video , it’s like crating new tracks when you have for example 3 tracks that match perfectly over the entire track. and you already have a lot of skill, so it wouldnt be hard for you :)
