I think you have a good chance. It's surely more difficult to rate mtg cards as a hearthstone player than the other way around, but the pushed cards in MTG are pretty hard to underrate. As long as he doesn't hit you with confusing mechanics you will be fine. No spoilers, but just as a hint, if Dragonqueen Alexstrasza was a magic card it would cost like 6 mana and would basicly only see play if you could cheat it onto the battlefield.
@Wyti2 жыл бұрын
@@Bartleby1892 Adding more, damage isnt permanent on magic and you choose how to block, so a 2 mana 2/2 buff is actually p decent in casual games, whereas in hearthstone its nothing. And dont forget the amount of colored mana, that is very much important.

Not even necessary for it to be a pro; MTG is one of the few games with a prominent limited format, players are used to analyzing cards in a vacuum. Of course, it also helps that Hearthstone has a similar game flow. If he were looking at cards from Weiss Schwarz or UniVersus, there's every possibility the lack of a baseline comparison would catch up with him. Drek'Thar is acutally very similar to a MTG card called Lurrus of the Dream Den. Lurrus has the restriction that you can only play permanent cards that cost 2 or less, but if you do, you can play him once per game from the so called companion zone (he is essentially in your opening hand, but can't be discarded). Once on the field, you can play a card from your graveyard once per turn. That card was so extremely busted that his companion ability had to be nerfed (nerfs almost never happen in MTG) and even then he was so strong that he had to be banned in most formats.
@scotbush43382 жыл бұрын
Holy shit I play both games pretty competitively and that's a phenomenal comparison. Obviously lurrus is better cause it's an extra card and you always have access to it, so basically if drekthar had an ability of like, pay some mana to pull drekthar from your deck then it'd be just like lurrus but still, it's very very strong as is. When will these game designers learn that free stuff is ALWAYS problematic
@Pacheco_Dan2 жыл бұрын
You can cast a permanent* from your grave
@zaifir81192 жыл бұрын
It reminded me most of Collected Company, because it is pretty much that on a stick and more consistent. Its not a hard limitation like companion but if you want your Collected Company to hit well you better have a good amount of cheap creatures in your deck. For those reading that don't know the card, its a 4 mana spell that allows you to look at the top 6 cards of your deck and put up to 2 creatures with mana value 3 or less onto the battlefield.

As a MTG player, it is hard for me to justify the design for some Hearthstone cards. I don't know if it is power creep or just the way the game works, but a 1/3 for 1 mana that deals damage to the whole board whenever another creature enters the battlefield is just INSANE. I think if this card was ever printed in MTG the community would go bonkers xD Maybe someone who has a bit more insight in the HS design process of the cards could help? Anyways, loved the video, hope to see more ^^
@manueltakerumazuelosw.61812 жыл бұрын
@@CassianoAlanCanossa I understand, but the onyl way I can think of this card being bad is because many better cards were printed afterwards, that made this card, or even the whole deck, obsolete. I played HS a bit when it came out, and the cards I remember are nowhere near the power level of the cards shown in the video. I am quite against power creep in games, since I associate it with bad card design and greed. You kinda force poeple to buy cards if they want to stay in the game. I understand that almost all games do this, even MTG, but I feel that in MTG it is more controlled, and the designers are also concerned about new mechanics and such. Anyways, thanks for the reply ^^

With that Fel spell (Multi-strike) you can attack a minion and then still attack face afterwards. Which is why I think this card needs to be reworded. Because you're using your "additional attack" first in that case and can still attack face. To me an additional attack comes after the first one. So you shouldn't be able to attack a minion and then go face, but I have had this happen several times to me in the past. Since they nerfed the cost of the card, I haven't seen it anymore, but I do believe this effect is still able to be activated in that way.
