My gosh... I have never heard such an amazing metal guitar cover for Ken's Theme. The Ryu theme going over this theme was just genius man, you should do a cover for that when no one has done it yet. God... 3:45 and beyond was eargasm to me, most especially at 4:58, now that was just incredible. Thank you for making my day man, your music inspires and motivates me!!

Toxic, you're a goddamn genius!!! I never even considered that Ryu's Theme fits!!! I'm reading way too far into it but this tells me that Ken might still be trying to emulate Ryu, given that he lost everything, Ryu is in a state of inner peace, and perhaps he is envious of him.

it really does feel like Ryu and Ken have switched sides on life with their themes. Ken is on the run from being framed for a crime, but chooses to do the right thing to protect his family and Ryu has finally gotten passed his inner demons. so their old themes would mix better with the opposite new one.

This game's OST has been divisive so far, mostly because of the HipHop-Lite approach . Personally, I love this track. It's completely new, but it still has a groove, and it fits the character really well, with what the character at this new point in the story.

Kens theme is one of the few SF6 thems that are really catchy. But most of the new themes are either really disappointing or in the case of Ryu's SF6 theme it just doesnt suit him at all. Like Ryu SF6 theme feels like it belongs to a Jazz loving New Yorker who plays a Saxaphone.

I guess the reason why Ken's new theme sounds perfectly alongside Ryu's old theme is because now Ken himself is on his own Journey of self discovery and to find his own redemption.

Well, it's more of a "it's time to move forward" thing, considering SF4-5 had a bit of an identity crisis. You can hear some slight allusions to old songs, but it being mostly new sounds fine to me, considering old songs will likely reappear anyways. Either way, I respect your opinion and can agree that it does sound a bit odd.

@@orio_edible i personally feel like that they could have done something more akin to what, like, Killer Instinct 2013 or GGST did, where there were new themes, but they also tended to have parts that referred back to their old themes. the SF6 themes don't feel like they have those (the closest i feel is Juri's, though that's more of a feel thing than an actual theme thing)

I wouldn’t say the design principle is “ Fuck these leitmotifs” that descriptor sounds too extreme in regards to the developer intentions. This other person I feel is pretty spot on, in that it was a progression and relevant to plot/character growth. Guilty Gear is similar in that musical regard. This was the case with Alpha This was the case with III. Hell, I’ll even throw in the the EX series. And we come now to 6 and I personally love it. It’s an amazing display of creative prowess imho. And as stated, I can’t see the old themes not being implemented in some fashion.

@@KyoAWare the problem with using Guilty Gear as a comparison point is that they DO have leitmotifs come back... one of the most obvious ones is Roar of the Spark having both Holy Orders AND Magnolia Eclair show up (hell, EVERY returning GGST character's theme has references to their old themes, same for their Xrd themes). as for them doing it before... 2/3 of the examples you gave have probable reasons for not bringing in the leitmotifs (EX was made by a different company, so getting the rights might have been a pain, while the III series wasn't going to have returning characters at first)
