This performance took place in a stadium with 90,000 spectators. So yes it was necessary to do much more than on a televised service. Thank you for this reaction.

Lara's microphone sound was at maximum (it resonated..) and Johnny's was lower.. It was Johnny who asked for it to be done like that. Lara was his guest at the Stade de France and he wanted her to demonstrate her vocal power and shine. Lara herself confirmed it. Johnny in all his generosity... Know that Johnny was a vocal power too but on this last interpretation he did not want because it was done on purpose, Johnny was very intelligent in doing that to make the song more dramatic and show their acting on this magnificent song that belongs to him. The desired goal was the dramatic side of the singing all in power but less than Lara (Johnny) with at the same time next to him a more striking singing power (Lara) and the passionate play between the two. Everything was imagined by Johnny himself to end the last interpretation in style. A masterpiece, perhaps the most beautiful duet in the world.💣🎉💥

Hello, you talk about what is called "La nouvelle vague" and of Godard's Movie "Pierrot le Fou with Anouk Grinberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo. Johnny Hallyday is dead in 2017 and was a kind of French Elvis/Jagger/Sinatra or even Springsteen star equal in France. His funeral brought together nearly a million people on the Champs Élysée. His career began in France in the 60s and therefore ended in 2017. We can say that it was he who made Lara's career take off by inviting her to do this duet 3 nights in a row during his concert at the Stade de France. Let's say it was a bit like the dubbing of the French King of Rock. In France, Johnny Halliday is called "Le patron" (The boss). Lara Fabian still speaks of this duo at the Stade de France as the turning point in hes career. I perfectly understand what you feel about this performance so "Dramatic". But it's for a spectacular show in a Stade. And Unfortunately, if you see well, in fact we just see a little part of the stage. We even not see the crown, all spotlights, etc. I think this is which creates this discrepancy and gives this impression of overbidding, of ostentation. It had to be a lot better from the spectators' point of view. Thanks for this reaction.

It's a song by Johnny Hallyday from the magnificent album "Derrière l'amour" from 1976. When Johnny sings this song alone in concert he puts on more intensity. Here on this duet less because he would have asked that we lower his microphone to make Lara shine. Johnny in all his generosity...

They definitely were telling a story, but then theater acting is designed for the movements to be discerned from the last row as well as the first. Great vocals though.

On repeated viewings, I grew to really appreciate and even love this performance. This was the piece that he was most known for. He broke it into two voices for a young Fabian to perform it with him, if I'm not mistaken. I believe she is the only female vocalist he ever sang it with. I think they captured the madness of the title well. Requiem for a Madman. She's a powerhouse that gets to the heart of any song she takes on. If you'd like some different looks at her vocal craft: Adagio (English, she wrote, From Lara With With Love concert.) You're Not From Here, also from that concert, she also wrote. Insane vocal control. It's insanely difficult but she keeps it sounding gentle and easy as pie. Her covers of the Italian songs Caruso (with only piano) and Pedere L'Amore from From Lara With Love. 🤘

"This was the piece Johnny Hallyday was most known for" nonsense. Johnny Hallyday one million persons concert at the Eiffel Tower. Millions of persons in the streets at his funeral in France. A Legend since the 60s. Also brought Jimi Hendrix to Europe (France) Johnny was the idol Lara Fabian looked up to not the other way around :-) 110 million records sold in the World. Johnny already sang Rock in the 50s when Ozzy Osbourne still did not know what it was.

It's just entertainment at the end of the day. We're looking at a stadium filled with 80k+ people...300 piece orchestra and choir, it's raining and these two people are singing, excuse me..., performing their hearts out on stage! Some commenters say it's too much, but for me I have a comparison. The band 'Meatloaf' has a live performance of " Paradise by the Dashboard Light " which is considered "Rock Opera!" Here's the link so you can see for yourself- kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWKUfq2Yesh7otk. What kind of Opera can Lara and Johnny's song be called?...Rock/Pop Opera? I don't know...The intensity between the two ( singers and performances)is the same! Both can seem over dramatic but I believe it was meant to be so that we, the viewer, can feel the passion that this kind of song requires...The roughness of Holiday's voice, I wasn't a fan of at first, but after multiple listening, I've grown to really enjoy this performance....Lara dominated this performance for sure...she was the Alpha here in my opinion

I am primarily a liturgical and ensemble singer and this performance blows me away. As a soloist I have had to fight with the emotions summoned by the music to give a good performance. These artists were firing on all cylinders: emotion, power and technique. I don't use "awesome" often, but I am awed by this performance and kicking myself for not seeing Johnny at the Beacon in NYC in 20012.

@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 And for them it's not. It's 100 % natural, that's how they always performed. Lara suffered because of it, the "press" mocked her. She doesn't perform that way anymore as a result. Also a lot of people saw a competition between them even a fight but she says it was the opposite. One needs to know who Johnny is and what he represents to us french to understand this was typical of him and also who lara is. With that being said, if you compare to most artist yeah you could think it's acted and over played.

She was only a guest for one song in this Johnny Halliday live show. This guy has been the french super star of the super stars from 17 y.o to his death at seventy something. I absolutely agree that she over exagerated her playing, but when you sing with such a monster, in front of such an audience, and only once, then, you may not be fully yourself :-)

It( performance perceived overwrought) may _or_ _may_ *not* eventually, grow on you. Time will tell. Revisit it, sometime down the road. It may seem like an odd adjective to associate to such a seemingly "in-your-face" offering, but like almost all of Fabian's best work , the word sublime applies here as well; it's this quality that could initially be lost on the uninitiated.

hello, Johny Hallyday is dead now, and was a show master in France, rocky voice well known, and you add to him Lara Fabian with NO AUTOTUNES , just real singing, real singing, the magic of a real voice, a great singer with singing techniques mastered to perfection I have few things to say about this video. Some people can think the gestures are exaggerated. You have to put in context. This is a live concert in a stadium with 90 000 peoples, in a rainy day. You have to do this, so anyone can get the message.
