A little context for you...I'm from Baltimore and Ray Lewis is my favorite player of all time. 7 minutes simply does not do him justice. If somebody took the time to actually make a highlight reel of his best plays it would be at least half an hour long. I honestly feel that he was the best football player of all time. His passion and intensity was unmatched. He had something to him that's unseen and only felt. I've watched this man shed tears on the field multiple times. To have that type of impact from the middle linebacker position in the NFL is unheard of. I honestly get emotional watching him and remembering what he did for that team and our city. He played 17 years. Nobody plays middle linebacker for 17 years. 17 years of throwing his body around like that and he was a force until the very end. I love the man. As far as the Lawrence Taylor comparison...LT was a pass rusher. They're 2 different positions. Ray was a much better leader though. Maybe the best leader ever. You have to do Ed Reed now. They go hand in hand. They played together on defense for over a decade. You won't be disappointed. Ed Reed was the Magic Man...

So yeah Ray is a MLB primary job tackle ball carrier Taylor was an OLB primary job sack quarterback and set edge they were each the greatest at their positions but to compare them is skewed because it’s subjective. If you like the smash mouth running game stuff then Ray is your guy if your into burying quarterbacks and disrupting the line of scrimmage Taylor is your guy.

Lawrence Taylor was a hybrid LB/DE. LT was rarely in coverage, he was in a 3 point stance rushing the QB every play. Hard to compare because of two different paly styles.
@marylandguy58483 жыл бұрын
Lawrence Taylor wasn't a hybrid LB/DE. He was an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. He was also NEVER in a 3 point stance... he always stood up. He didn't rush the QB on every play either. He dropped back and covered running backs and tight ends also and even had a 99 yard interception for a touchdown. It is hard to compare Ray and LT because the positions are different and the era's are very different. That being said your description of LT is way off.
@Joneth_Piptne3 жыл бұрын

That second play Jerome Bettis aka “the bus” #36, was not the easiest dude to hit stick or even tackle back then, and here comes ray lewis to end that 🔥🔥
@Dustin0308884 жыл бұрын
Taylor was a beast as well. He was primarily an OLB though and rushed the passer or would set the edge on outside runs. Lewis, being a MLB, would rush the QB, set up for run stopping, or go out in pass coverage. Really hard to compare them as they both did different things for their respective defenses. As an all around LB, I'd take Lewis. As a pass rusher, it's Taylor. As far as hard hits, it is a toss up as both were absolute maniacs on the field. Taylor did win an MVP, something Lewis never did. Taylor was also known to do coke and would be high during some games which def gives him an advantage as you just go f-ing crazy when you are coked up. I like this video you reacted to, but you really should react to a video that shows more of his highlights. Lewis has waaay more highlights than what was shown. They weren't even his best highlights in the video. And the part where he announces his last ride, that was right after the ravens made the playoffs in the 2012 season. They went on to beat the colts in baltimore, the peyton manning led broncos in double OT in Denver, and then the Pats and Tom Brady in New England, before finally beating the SF 49ers in the Super Bowl (which was a blowout prior to about an hour long light outage that allowed the younger 49ers team to come back and make it close). He played for 16 or 17 years (really long for a LB) and retired after the 2012 season (in 2013).
