There resaon they added pads. Because people died on the spot. My father said it's a curdasy they have pads.

It's why Andrew Luck retired from the NFL when he did, from the constant neck/shoulder injuries...he realized he's shaving years off his life...causing a higher chance of further injury. Also he has a wife and kids, even though he was very young and still in his early prime, he did not want to risk enjoying life with his family.

Andre The Giant drank almost triple that! LT would party all night and sleep in meetings! One time Bill Belichick woke him up during a meeting and asked LT to tell him about the play on the board in the meeting. LT explained the entire play including the positioning of every player including himself on defense. Dude was Different!

Rugby dudes hit you hard, no doubt. However, there is a distinct difference between the two. In rugby, you chase the ball. In American football, you chase the person with the ball. For the most part, the ball isn't the target. The person holding the ball is. That's the difference

I love watching young men seeing guys like Taylor years after he finished playing. I’d rather experience him like that because I was a kid when he played and everyone was terrified the week NY played their team. I’ve been a 49er fan since the mid 80’s. I can’t tell you in words what it was like watching him kill Joe Montana when they played.

I got into the other day with a kid who said that he would've gotten destroyed in today's league. I just told him that it's obvious that you've never seen him play.

Quit with the complaint, these guys know what the deal is. This is the most violent sport. Rugby is "soft". Yes rule changes make 1/4 of these hits a PF. I play all sports good, but none exceptional. Mostly hand eye coordination. Last 10 years they have changed many rules to protect players. Today kids are bigger and faster than when I played.... 70`s.

USA club rugby is not soft, I played football from rocket football thru college. Didn't make NFL but started plying rugby. Ended many careers including my own playing like I had pads. Division 1 has a lot of ex NFL players. It's brutal.

Best defensive player ever I couldn't pick between Lawrence Taylor or Reggie White.

Many of the hits, if they weren’t illegal then, they are now. The hits are more brutal in football in my opinion because when you are padded up it’s harder to get hurt so you will smash together harder. When my son played college football we were told that football doesn’t have a minor league like baseball because they have college football. In a day when even a division 2 school like my son attended pays their football coach over a million dollars it’s not unreasonable to ask for the players who pull in the paying customers to get a cut of the till.

Reed was strong saftey, Polamalu was a free saftey, he'd be everywhere lol sacking the QB one play and then would be 50 yards down field intercepting the ball the next play haha I'd pick Troy 100%, more of play maker

Both are amazing sports... Rugby players tend to be able to stay on the field 'in-play' for longer periods, but American football players destroy each other in every play.... tough on both counts :)
