Basiclly it is a ratio, which means that what you measure is being compared to another value. DB's are useful for making comparisons, example frequency response, distortion and noise levels, gains and losses, as opposed to making an absolute measurement of the voltage or power.

Is it possible that accuracy improves when the meter is more upright? With a more upright position the zero adjust must be set in a dfifferent position (gravity)
@KeepOnTesting3 жыл бұрын
With an Analog meter its actually preferable to be lying flat, tilt stand is only a convenience but in reality accuracy is usually better when the meter is lying completely flat...great question though!
@mrpetit23 жыл бұрын
@@KeepOnTesting I understand that that's normally the case, but the question is if it's the case with this model specifically. Have you tested it, and if so, what were the numbers in that setup? It would make an interesting video. There have been quite a few high quality analog multimeters in the past that could only be used in upright position, like models from for example the brand Heathkik.

I do like an analogue meter though, I like to make my hair look wild and unkempt, wear my glasses on the end of my nose, put on a lab coat, walk about the house waving said meter around while ranting in a broken German accent...'analogue' does brings out the mad scientist in me..❤️ 😜

Again this one looked so promising, and I wanted to like it as it was of a good size and had really nice leads - but when it comes to meters accuracy is first on the list of your expectations so yet another meter that coulda been shoulda been but in the end just wasn, a real disappointment for $40. Ive got a Proskit digital and its pretty much the same, feels well made and has good features but for some reason no backlight, accuracy is only so so and other nagging issues. Proskit comes so close in some meters but not close enough. I think you have one that you reviewed awhile back that was actually pretty good as I recall.

To me analog multimeters look so retro nowadays. I’ve never in my life had or use one of them. Sure, they can show changing values much better than digital meters. But you can get a dmm with a bar graph, that should do the same thing. Or am I wrong? I’m really interested how often are they being used these days.
@KeepOnTesting3 жыл бұрын
Still popular...perhaps not as much on this side of the pond but I don't think they'll ever go out of fashion..Conversely, the moving needle of an analog meter provides a more complete picture of the current and its fluctuations so it is easier to get a picture in real time.
