Hector Rivera I know it's a bit late, but in case you're still wondering, the player playing the planes walker has priority to activate a plane walker ability before the opponent can respond. So Saporito could still Downfall the Sarkhan, but he had to give Jansen the option to activate an ability first.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, a card Sigrist had played makes all lands Swamp in addition to their other types. So effectively all of Owen's islands were Watery Graves.

I think Owen's deck is great, and that it could be even better if he adds some more early defensive creatures. Even better if said creatures had regenerate/lifelink. He won while going down to 1 life the first game because his deck didn't interact with Mike's early creatures. Then the second game he got slaughtered because of his lack of interaction with the rhinos. So what if he has to do some 2 for 1 trades if his deck has that much and draw power!! It's such a cool control deck, it's like playing as a booby-trapped cave. But his cave could use some entrance guards IMHO. Not *everything* has to be WTFvalue.

Without control decks, all decks would be Midrange and therefore having a terrific standard. So control is actually life.

***** It was far more fun than things have been since it rotated out (though KTK is solid so far). Go back and watch PT Gatecrash and see how much more enjoyable the games were. The power level was high overall, pretty much every archetype seemed capable of winning, and even control decks were playing sweet value creatures. Hell, if anything brought that standard down, it was Boros Reckoner and its associated combos.
