Probably the best sailing in the world: RS800 Euros

Thirty skiffs from six nationals , hosted by the fantastic Circolo Vela Torbole compete on northern waters of Lake Garda.
Thermal mountain winds fuel consistent racing conditions with flat water and jaw dropping scenery. The food is not bad either. It's no wonder that Lake Garda has been a frequent haunt of the 800 fleet.

Nice work! what is the difference in the RS800 rack configurations? - def some differences across the boats... are some wider or just different hull/rack configs?

The boats run weight and leverage equalisation between 138 and 155 kilos. Before each event all sailors weight and leverage is measured and the racks are adjusted to give everyone the same leverage. Weight it given to lighter teams so their all up weight matches the heavier crews. The system seems to work very well with winner across the equalisation spectrum

I am really intrigued by the camera work. What kinds of cameras are you using, how are you mounting the cameras both on your boat which looks to be on the mast and on the boom. Also how does the assignment of the fleet camera work? Perhaps you could do a episode on cameras both on RS800 and on the AC boats.

The booms mounts are made by Ben Palmer out of a mix of 3d printed parts and carbon tubing. The mast mount is pretty basic gopro mount. Cameras are GoPro hero 9s with a bit of work on getting settings dialled in. I had a camera on all week, then a second camera was given to those who volunteered first... we had a third cam, with another mount which broke

@@camnielsen5498 I didn't actually use a head mount in this video, but I do from time to time use a stock head mount. I find it is okay in most winds, but I always tie a back up tether as it came be knocked off quite easily.
