Race Carnage 😟 Sailing Abandoned || Race Five RS 800 Inlands

This was the second day of the RS800 Inland National Championships held at Grafham Water Sailing Club on the 5-6th October 2019. Harken kindly sponsored this event and Rooster support the RS800 National tour, of which this was part.
Racing was abandoned due to strong winds after this, Race 5, and the scheduled Race 6 was not sailed.
The RS800 races around windward leeward courses, with the windward mark to be passed to port, then a leeward gate that you pass down through the middle then round the outside. This race was three laps with a short reach from the final leeward gate to a finish line just to windward of the start boat.

It's a Yi Lite Action Cam, chinese gopro copy. Overlay is from garmin bike computer then synced to footage with Virb Edit

@@MozzySails Where do you carry your bike computer, buoyancy aid pocket or stored on the boat somewhere? Also how do you get the bearing from the tracker, doesn't sound like something bike computers normally record (but maybe it's inherent to all gps trackers)

@@WoWOmegor just in a kite sock pocket. Its waterproof to a meter.. so unless we sink is fine. The heading is derived from GPS course over ground rather than a magnetic heading.

This was using garmins video editing software for the virb camera. It's not supported anymore. I tend to use njord analytics now but that more data driven and not aesthetic

Do the 800’s allow a smaller rig for the big breeze? Or can you only measure in one set of spars and Sails?

It's one design manufacture supplied. So one rig, one suit of sails identical for everyone. Like a 29er or 49er.
