The extra wires inside the peckerhead of the motor are for wiring the motor for 240 VAC or maybe even 277 VAC or 460 VAC. The high the voltage, the fewer the amps and the less cost to run the motor making high voltage more efficient. Of course, the larger the motor, the more expensive they are to purchase. You protect them by adding a VFD or Variable Frequency Drive between the motor and the power source. VFD's take AC power, reconvert the power to DC, cleaning the energy (of potentially harmful spikes of energy ) and reconverts the energy back to AC. They can be fed a lower voltage even and create a higher voltage. Eg: you can run a 480 VAC motor on 220 VAC when put through a VFD. It also acts as surge protection and will usually show a fault when a harmful and sometimes unavoidable spike of power disrupts the circuit. The fault can simply be cleared and the motor restarted. They run about a grand or two depending on application but can save tens of thousands more in damage and wear on the internal windings of your motors. Also VFD's are programmable. Typically when you turn on the motors they burst out of the gate at full speed. This can and does contribute significantly to the degradation of the life of the motor. By programming in ramp up and maybe even ramp down times in the VFD, you eliminate this excessive wear by giving it a set amount of time (lets say 30 seconds or even a minute ) to reach full RMPs from a stopped state to ramp down by giving it a set amount of time to reach full stop from full RPMs. With proper lubrication on the front and rear bearings or changing them out on a 3-4 year frequency, your motors could last indefinitely.

In closing out 3 1/2 decades of service, I simply cannot understand why this new generation is unable to comprehend that the tent will NOT simply put itself up. I truly wish half this generation had a work ethic which Farmers do day in and day out.

I don’t need a problem generator. I’m already married.

Those two extra red leads you were asking about are normally a temperature switch to protect the motor. Not sure on a generator but would guess to be the same. It would not matter which wire goes to which as it is just a set of contacts .

You should have directional nozzles so you're spraying behind the tires. They wouldn't be driving in the mud all the time.

You should have changed the belts too when the motor was off. They look like they could break at any moment.😮

When you backfill the pivot tire holes with chunks of old concrete doesn't that dull your disk when getting the field ready for planting?

Time is something you never get back. Belts are toast - look at the cracks. Save yourself another trip for a few dollars - it is working but you will be back in a few days to do it again.

Looks like future dinner was checking what you’re up to Cale . Lucky you only have deer and not packs of wild hogs. Deer only eat , they don’t root and destroy everything . Anyway keep teaching your kids , nothing like hands on lessons .
