Problem Solution Fix on How To Use a Bell Airstrike Bike Hand Pump Properly On A Presta Valve

The Bell Airstike 850 High Pressure Pump with a Gauge is a good pump to have that mounts on your bike. I've read a lot of complaints in the reviews. I've looked at a few videos and none of the video I saw mentioned anything about tightening the nozzle to make the pump work right. That's why I created this video to help people understand how to use the bell hand bike pumps...and on presta valves. Bell has a couple of demonstration videos but, they don't mention anything about making sure the nozzle is tight.
My first experience of having a flat was one evening and I was 5 Miles From My House and I had no pump on my bike. I had to walk back home on a dark bike trail. I asked everybody that passed me if they had a pump and they all said no. I was wishing I had a pump. I did find a bike station but, someone had vandalized the pump by cutting the head off the hose. This is just a good example why people should carry a pump on their bikes. Bell is decent brand to have for a bike pump.

I actually had a flat on my bike a couple of weeks ago. My wheels are tubeless ready and I had a Continental Grand Prix 5000 tire that went flat. This tire if removed and put back on requires about 100 psi of tire air pressure in order to make the tire seat and hook on the rim right. I pumped the tire up as much as I could but, I couldn't get it to hook on the rim. The pump did get me home though. That's why I kept saying this pump is for emergencies and not every day use.

I actually had to use the pump for an emergency last week when I stopped to help a fellow cyclist out who had a flat. He had schrader valves on his bike tubes so, I had to flip the pump nozzle gadget over and I didn't make the valve flush so, the pump popped right off. I had to laugh because I made a video for this and I forgot to make the nozzle flush. After I made the nozzle flush, I filled the cyclists tire up and he was on his way. I hope he made it to his destination okay.

It's a Schwinn floor pump. I'm not sure of the model though.

The newer 850s do it automatically, no need to take it apart

That's good to know. I had trouble trying to find that automation information on the Bell 850 AirStrike Pump. When I Google it, it shows it's sold at Best Buy. In the description it does mention in the features: Smart Valve Smart Valve fits both Presta and Schrader valves without any adaptors When I was looking at the photos of it, it looked like the head twisted off the same as the one I got. www.bestbuy.com/site/bell-air-strike-850-frame-pump-black/6536797.p?skuId=6536797

This is not the 350 model. 350's are horrible. Unusable. Mine is anyway.

It's an 850. These types of pumps, I believe, are made mainly to have for emergency use. I wouldn't use one on a regular basis, but I'm glad to have one with me when I get a flat.
