I advised my work colleague about Game pass last year and the Firestick game pass this year. He said until I told him he knew nothing of both, as no advertisments. He thought/thinks both are brilliant. Everywhere you look Playstation is constantly advertised. Even in an adverts for an independent, non sony games, like basketball, it advertises Playstation verbally, but xbox only in writing. Microsoft expects people to just know without adverts. I advised other fathers of game pass too and they also thinks it is brilliant, but never heard of it.

I remember back in the day I went to Gamestop to buy Xbox games and there was this pretty white console on them shelf in asked what it was and they told me it was and Xbox 360 OFC I bought at but I had no idea it existed and that was in 2006 meaning it had already been out 6 months.

@@sean70729 Actually, Microsoft was advertising a lot back then. The Xbox 360 was premiered on a half-hour MTV special. They had lots of TV ads for Xbox and Xbox 360 games. There were really good Xbox 360 ads like the jump rope ad and the water balloon ad. There was even an ad that was banned, but it's really good. You should look them up.

If you’re going to spend $700 or more on a console I would personally at that point spend more to get a great pc experience. Think of the upgrade possibilities and the lower cost of games. Space Marines 2 is $120 on Xbox Series X and $60 on pc.

The disc drive is how I was able to sell my wife on upgrading my console from the 1X to the series X. It will be a hard sell for me to upgrade without the capability of playing movies and TV via disc. PLUS the 4k HDR version of Lord of the Rings is vastly superior to streaming it. Disc drive is a Must, even though I play mostly digital games.

Nice to hear that about LOTR on blu ray; I've been thinking about getting it. I experienced that with the Underworld movies (amazing on blu ray). And yeah, I have a large blu ray and dvd collection. I'm not buying an all digital console. Hopefully xbox or sony gives a disc option for next gen.

Stop justifying the PS5 Pro in Australia if you include a disc drive and stand you looking at at least $1,399 for a 25% upgrade, not worth it, I'll stick with my launch consoles and I'll wait for next gen

I'd rather not have mid gen refreshes. Instead just cut the gen by 2 years and launch a new console. The mid gens diminish the leap from one gen to the next at the end of the day.

I don’t think the PS5 Pro is necessarily a test for the price of a base model console. Unless they only want to sell 12-15 million consoles and bow out. The Pro only accounted for 12% of ALL PS4s sold. The Series X sells significantly less than the S. A $700-800 base console would be a way to speed run an exit out of hardware.

I can't see next Gen being 699, the pro is for the hardcore, the ps6 and next Xbox are for the mass market. I could see them both being 499 again but digital only (playstation may have attachable disc drive sold seperatrly) with only 1.5TB SSD.
