#Bollywood movies have had a history of content that seemed to propagate archaic practices deeply rooted in mysoginy, sexism and bigotry. Little did I know, that the same content we used to mock will turn out to be India's reality even in 2021!

KZbinrs often rely on news that journalists have already reported, rather than conducting original investigations. Many KZbinrs have specific agendas and select news that aligns with their perspectives. KZbin channels often attract subscribers who already agree with their viewpoints, reinforcing bias. This creates an echo chamber where viewers get news that matches their preferences, not a balanced view. On KZbin, you tend to see only the news that fits your biases, leading to a more skewed understanding. This selective consumption can make you feel satisfied but doesn't provide a complete or accurate portrayal of events. Traditional media covers a wide range of news. While media outlets can also be biased, they are obligated to report on a variety of topics. They highlight stories according to their biases, but they still cover all news. Just like on KZbin, you can choose news channels/ portals that align with your biases. By doing so, you might regain trust in media, as you'll find outlets that reflect your views.

@@KK-wc5jz i dont think the solution is that simple, tOh maT dEkHo SeRiAl. u have to realise that these serials are the only thing avaialble in media for most of the population in India. They cant afford Netflix(or other better sites or the internet) for alt content. And thus go to tv. And they get influenced by the media since most have no education(in moral values) that some things are not right. So they start to think whatever is shown in the serials is right. This shapes their mind, and in turn, shapes the majority of the people living in Indian society. Schools don't help at all, by not teaching us this stuff, so that's why it is imp for the media to also take responsibility and show proper stuff, NOT HARRASSMENT AND FORCEFUL SHIT that certain people are just supposed to follow. Homophobia, misogyny, no consent , transphobia, shit like that gets spread even more because media doesn't portray stuff properly.

I am going posting this around coz people are too quick to judge and do not look into the details This case is complicated and to understand it you need to look into it. From what I read the guy and girl are distantly related and were in a sexual relationship ( allegedly under threat by the guy) since she was in class 9. Then the girl complained to her parents about the abuse and the boys parents also got involved. They came to an agreement to marry the two when she turned 18 if the girl did not press charges against the guy. Fast forward to when she turned 18, the guys parents refuse to go through with the marriage and the girl files charges. The court says if the original agreement of marriage is done then the rape charges will also be dropped as per the agreement. It is also there in indian law that if a guy has sex with a girl under promise of marriage but breaks that promise then it is rape. Its very fucked up, our society is just not open to sex and it leads to such bad situations

Fucking pointless

To set a perspective, im 33yrs old woman. Thanks to bollywood, which was the only source of relationships and sex education I grew up believing that 1. "Good Girl' never makes the first move and should wait for the guy to approach. 2. No matter how much you like the guy when he 'proposes', you have to say No. The guy will persist and then you may yes. 3. If too many guys in the neighborhood are interested in a girl, it is the girl who gets gossiped about. 4. Once you say Yes, it is for life. Morals of those involved, especially the girl, are questioned if it is a short term relationship. As bollywood defined it, Yes to a proposal means a saat janom ka commitment. 5. No matter what, no sex. True love hai toh boy will understand and respect it. "Good Girls" anyway have no sexual urges or hormones...unless there is a toofan or baarish involved. 😂

I was once molested by a classmate as I was effeminate and fairly weak compared to other class boys. After the incident, one day I confronted him publicly out of frustration and his answer shocked me. He said, "What are you suggesting? That I start molesting girls?" So basically this toxic jock culture teaches their boys on the cusp of manhood that a molestation is a molestation if it is truly done by a man to a woman. I was shocked. The options of my molester were molesting me or some girl. Wow. And he was not even kidding when he said this. I was like, why do you have to molest anyone? What's with this crazy urge to physically violate someone? The guy also told me that weak effeminate boys are made like this (by God probably) so that masculine men like him can fulfil their lust for women which they cannot do within the constraints of law and how a girl's NO is more powerful than that of a boy's. Till date I am not able to shake off this memory, as I see on FB the guy is happily married, enjoying with wife and kid. Society really has its way of rewarding its toxic manly men.

The girl was molested when she was a minor, and was promised by the accused on a 100 rupee stamp paper that he would marry her on the day she would turn 18 and she and her widow mother agreed to it. But the day she turned 18, she asked for the marriage and the man said that he would not. That is why she went to subsequent courts. She still wants to marry the man and that is why the judge asked the man...will you marry her? Thus I think the CJI stands at a better moral point than rest of us. Perhaps the prime problem is rape and sexual assault is still seen by many as an attack on the survivor's honour and not on the individual. Movies are reflective of a dangerous and shameful culture and also the same culture is being spread and familiarised by movies. The highest court of the country cannot be holding such regressive views. While on one hand we fight the increasing number of rape it is sad that we also have to fight a victim blaming culture and one that does not account the needs of a survivor of the violence.

Someone asked in the comment section what is wrong with Indian laws? The answer is nothing... or everything. It depends. As harshad mehta showed it was not exactly a scam but the entire process of business was set in an illegal way and everyone was involved... same here. Those who study law of course they know such n number of loopholes. Loopholes big enough to put some transformer truck through em. So why don't they correct them? Well if they do then how defense attorneys are gonna earn? Remember in nirbhaya case how that lawyer used every trick possible to delay the sentence? I left my in-laws house after 13 days of my wedding. Because my husband used to get over drunk and bit me everyday. His mother always supported him. N I really want to say that m so lucky that my parents supported me and filed a divorce case against my husband. I got divorced after 1 and half years of my marriage. N now I've started my own business and trying to expanding it😇 Women should have self respect and self ethics. You should free urself from anything that forcing u to compromise with ur self respect. Remember that😊

Recently a chief justice( i don't remember of what court) stated in a rape case, that the woman loses her dignity and honour when she is raped. I felt so dissatisfied with that. Yes, i agree that that's how the victim is treated in the society but this perception is so totally wrong. No victim of other crimes lose their dignity over the crime committed against them. If one should lose their honour and dignity, it should be the perpetrator. It should be the murderer, the rapist, the thief. Not the one who is killed or raped or robbed. Judges should be more progressive in their thoughts and judgements. They set a precedence for the common people to follow.

Rape cannot be stopped just by punishing the rapist or giving them death sentence. It can only and only be stopped by understanding why does a person rape and then finding a way out how to make sure this thought does not take birth in any other persons mind. It's a very broad concept, but we just think it's a small incident. This video clearly highlights some a points which shows the mentality of people towards a rape victim. Another reason why a women is raped. Right now we are just cutting off the branches, we need to uproot this issue.

In this particular case, the girl who has been abused is herself ready for the marriage because she wants to protect the honor of the child born to her by the perpetrator. She is more worried about the future of her child than her own life. The society is the one that is to be blamed.

Where is the consent of the victims? Are they asked, if they want to marry their abusers or not. Other than that, marrying the victim to their abuser gives the abuser even more opportunities to mistreat the victim. How is the society turning a blind eye towards this. Thank you for calling this out.
