Poaching is becoming more of a problem for landholders, hunters and anyone wanting to enjoy the great out doors. Not only is it illegal and gives a bad reputation to hunters but it's a DEADLY game where someone unsuspecting could be injured or worse because of these knuckle heads who want to seek around the bush, trespass and use firearms illegally.

We have had issues like this on our property. Unless they come clean immediately with a very believable story, we call the law and have them deal with the issues. Word gets around that we don't hesitate. Has solved a lot of problems.

Places to hunt are getting harder and harder to come by, unless you have a bunch of money to hunt on private land, game farms, etc. It's becoming like old England where the nobility own all the land and no one can hunt for wild game.

Good on ya fellas, back in the late 1980s I use to go shooting on the weekends with my best mate Col & we would always go in & have a yarn with the property owner & always, I mean always ask for permission as well as ask if there was any particular places he would prefer we did not hunt in. I think it was called being polite & respectful, which these days is very thin on the ground. Anyway with some of the owners they would invite us back again, especially if they were having rabbit or fox problems & life was good. I miss those years, unfortunately today these poachers are a real lot of fair-dinkum bastards & wombats as far as I am concerned. Anyway Fellas keep-up the good work your vision of what the future could be like is one worth sticking with. Steve.

As someone trying to set up a legitimate law abiding hunting and pest control business it’s infuriating to see so many people doing illegal things. It makes it so hard to get the required licenses and permits, permission access and trust of landowners, all because some dickhead with a gun has to shoot stuff out the car window on someone’s property and such. So frustrating. Good on you for doing the right thing guys.

When I was a young bloke I was out Cobar way, know contacts and fox skins were worth plenty. So foolishly we started spotting off the roadside. A cocky came behind, ask me if I was spotlight, I replied yes, He said you know it's illegal don't ya, Yep. He replied ,can you shoot. Yeah. Well follow me back home and If you shoot a goat for my dogs I'll let on my joint . Not only did he have one , but three properties all over 35,000 acres, we camped in the shearers quarters and had three properties too shoot off. Made a quid and before we left , and we were introduce to a few more property owners. So please ask first, you might be surprised.

I have a mate who owns 25k acres in central nsw who has the same problems with pig hunters who cut fences, drive through his property, don't respect the rules of the land and think it's ok to follow their dogs on trackers through private property . What makes it worse is that they dont even harvest the meat once they kill the animals, no respect at all to the landowners and animals. When i last looked it was illegal to walk onto anyones land uninvited. I know it pigs but where do you draw the line with these mongrels. Gives all the decent fellas out there a bad name too.

Well done gents! Poachers are the scum of the hunting society. Exactly what you have discussed, landowner’s/managers get the shits with trespassing, property damage, spotlighting and headless carcasses and then the real hunters get turfed from properties they may have hunted for decades! If you fish illegally and the authorities catch you, Let say you were fishing (hunting) without a licence they can take your boat and car and all your fishing gear and never return them. This rule should be applied to illegal hunting. But National Park have employed workers that have no brains. I was watching a hunting video where the hunters where given access to hunted feral deer in a National Park. But if they came across any other feral animals they were not allow to hunted them. What is the reasoning behind that decision. So why not hunt in National Park when you have complete fool managing these Parks. By the way the National Park is the true reason for the summer of fire. decades of neglect and just allowing the bush to turn like a vegan arm pit cause the destruction of the east coast Flora and Forna.

Iv had the same problem chasing people illegally spotlighting on my old property (84 acres), I used to just chase them down & yell out basically the same non violent words telling them if they do come out that I would not call the police but if they didn’t I would call the cops & every time it happened to me it worked as most people do not want to lose their firearms license. Had the same issue with people using silenced .22’s without permits but those ones always got reported no chances given when using silenced firearms on private property with no permission.

This happens frequently with absentee landowners. My father had some acreage in east central Texas about 500 acres. He bought it for his retirement. We would make the four hour trip once a month. Since we weren't there that often it was easy for the locals to trespass on our property to illegally hunt and fish from the two streams that crossed through the land. We confronted them and called the sheriff. They were charged with trespassing and fined for illegally taking game out of season. All charges were suspended. Why? In those sparsely populated areas everyone has known everyone else since elementary school. Many are related by marriage or very close friendships. Once they got to know my Dad they finally stopped trespassing. It's not easy for an outsider to be accepted when he's able to buy up land they consider to be their birthright. Many have sold their ancestral lands due to back taxes and other financial setbacks. To them the land is still rightfully theirs and they consider anyone else as the real trespassers.

I guess I was a poacher too. I don’t see the harm in someone performing what is essentially feral animal control, especially if the landholder isn’t making a go of it but rather maintaining feral animals for his own leisurely pursuits. If the hunter is going about his sport in a responsible manner and isn’t damaging property or the environment, then I honestly don’t see the problem. Having said that, the hunter should have been more respectful when summoned, and when you tell someone you won’t call the cops if they come on out to talk with you then you should do the honourable thing and keep your word. There’s nothing more un-Australian than being a dobber. Seems dobbing has become popular these days, sadly.

Im the other side of the coin, I live on the poor side of the tracks. i might have been hunting a bit on crown land, or jump a fence. After mum died i live with my 75 year old father, who has diabetes is recovering from bladder cancer and has Ulcers, among other issues. My local butcher is charging $60kg for lamb.... $50kg for steaks. I want ask you, what do we do? just watch deer and rabbits bouncing around? FERAL animals.... i have NEVER taken stock. Whats your problem? Maybe you need to think about the way you handle hunters and give them the nod to do a bit of hunting, feed there family's. You are so righteous. Do we have to pay you to hunt feral animals on your land? What if old mate shoots a few foxes or cats? is that payment enough? 1 deer for 2 fox? The only leg you really have to stand on is its your land.... YOUR land.... yeah right.... Im as Australian as you mate. If old mate got busted thats his problem.... but when meat is $50 per kg+ maybe you need to talk to the farmers and the abattoirs and the butchers.... not the hunters going for game meat, hunting feral animals to feed there family's. You have not changed me. I will think about heading up the mountain, doing the best i can not to be busted, but doing the best i can to feed me and my own. Such is life. (edit) I dont think its funny i think you need to be more aware of whats actually happening. I dont do it for fun champ i do it for food.

A few questions ? Is this property completely fenced ? If so how are people getting it ? If your working on getting rid of feral hogs why are you broadcasting it ? Why not go in and shoot them ? It dont take that many people to do the job.....and if it is fenced it makes it that much easier to kill them " all " . Why are the license plate being blurred out in this video ? These are the poachers also ? Yes its time for people to grow up......that is the owners of the property !

Yeah I don’t condone poaching but I’m a passionate hunter that has nowhere to hunt. Not everyone is as lucky as you guys and many others to have places to hunt or be born to land. If there was more public property to hunt there wouldn’t be this problem. And farmers should be given more insensitive to let good people hunt on there property ie not having to take legal responsibility if they were to hurt themselves while hunting

Spent most of my life gaining hunting opportunities for new hunters mate. Go to the www.theridgegroup.net website and take a long look through the stuff there.
