In the first damagable phase, use the explosive punch and it probably goes down before he gets a chance to unload the beams. You should use the explosive punch more when you are given a chance, since its probably has the same damage to a charged beam punch (or close), plus has better rate of fire.

the music here is pretty good. but i personally LOVE the Contra 1 and 2 soundtracks. both the arcade and nintendo versions. those are the oldest soundtracks for Contra, but it just has that feel to it that i like the best.

Ah yes, one of the most hardest games I've ever played, yet still not beaten. I remember that I warped to the last level as soon as I beat the Chimera-boss. That was one really lucky time when I chose the first choice from the "choose your route"-menu. And I didn't die single time. I guess that was just a little bug. But oh well, it was fun to try the last level. =P Hmm, maybe I should try to beat this game again... *cleans the dust of from Mega Drive*
