The only advantage for him in this fight is that he's 4 years younger which may not even be an advantage because we just saw what Oldman Barroso did to the young hyped up Ohara Davies! Reach, jab, height, right straight is an advantage for Smith but also can be a disadvantage as Beterbiev finds the angles and may see them as easy markers to get inside and then Smith's longer arms and frame are easier target and can't react. Beterbiev is a more skilled and harder hitting version of Golovkin. Golovkin would walk forward, pressurise, high work rate, heavy hands...but Beterbiev finds the angles and destabilises you and is suffocating you with accuracy, angles and heavy hands. Smith certainly has a chance as Beterbiev has made harder work of lesser fighters than Smith, but Beterbiev has to be favourite due to his destructive, suffocating skill, unless Beterbiev has aged too much.
@Dunlop-ut4og10 ай бұрын
The evidence in previous fights is Callum Smith doesn't keep his range and distance when he's fighting higher level opponents - Ryder or to a higher level Canelo. He certainly has power going for him but he's the taller fighter and bigger target for Beterbiev in the inside. I also think taller fighters can be caught with a uppercut in the inside they don't see coming easier than shorter boxers. I'd pick Beterbiev to stop Smith with a uppercut when he reaches in to punch to the body in the late rounds. He still has a chance with his power so will be entertaining fight.

I've rarely ever seen Beterbiev fight on the back foot, imo i believe taking the fight to beterbiev is the way forward, if you can get beterbiev to fight on the back foot, that is your best way of winning, but you have to be able to keep that up for 12 rounds mind you. you can't allow Beterbiev to get comfortable moving forward and you have to take away Beterbievs jab and his back hand. Its a big ask but its doable.

Gotta go with beterbiev late on this one (rounds 7-12), Callum has power but will only be able to stop in in the first 6 rounds, beterbiev pressure style zaps energy meaning Callum will have no power left to stop him after round 6. The way Callum folded against canelo and Ryder really makes me struggle to see how he wins, beterbiev hits harder than both and pressures so much more with his variation of punch power and combos. Beterbiev late stoppage or buddy pulls Callum out from a one sided beating. Doesn’t hurt to bet Callum to get a stoppage under 6 rounds given the odds.

Also the amount of Americans who say ‘Callum Smith’ instead of ‘Callum Johnson’ in reference to the earlier fight is insane.

people forget callum johnosn was a very very good fighter with amzing amateur pedigree on level of smith at one point

Teddy Atlas hates British boxers. He is so predictable. Don't underestimate how good Calum Smith is. This will be a great fight and although I lean toward a Beterbiev win I honestly believe Smith could give him a lot of problems with his counters.
@fernandoblanco300110 ай бұрын
Underestimate? Smith does not have enough strength or power to keep Beterbiev off of him. If he starts fast and keeps Smith on the ropes, he'll tee off on him until the fight gets stopped.

Betervieve all day. Thats my prediction.

Its hard to give Smith great odds after Canelo beat him up but he has a shot if he can catch Betervbiev with a good chin shot and hurt him early.

I don't get why people think this will be a shootout. Smith just came to survive Vs Canelo 🤷

As soon as callum feel that power he will run a little canelo beat him with power what do you think artur will do to him.

He lasted longer than I thought he would, I had Artur by 4.

Please. Canelo took this guy apart. What makes people think that this is going to be different? Teddy was on point. Father time would be he’s only enemy.
