Beterbiev hurts guys with glancing blows. No one can stay still anywhere, including laying on the ropes, and allow Beterbiev to get full leverage on his punches. Anthony Yarde, Callum Johnson, Gvozdyk, and Joe Smith Jr all are bigger punchers than Callum Smith IMO who was just a supermiddleweight just a few fighters ago, also his most crucial flaw is he fights too small for a big man and by that I mean he rarely uses his range and reach. @@joeschmoe6908 he hasn't knocked out any legitimate names at 175 though. He was a supermiddleweight into his 30's, he was only getting KOs then because he was alot bigger than his either much smaller, much older or less skilled opponents. Every time he stepped up in competition he lost (and yes that includes John Ryder who everyone knows beat him) the best win on Callums resume is a washed up George Groves. The only advantage for him in this fight is that he's 4 years younger which may not even be an advantage because we just saw what Oldman Barroso did to the young hyped up Ohara Davies! I'm not saying Smith can't win with a perfect gameplan but it's hard to go against a guy as brutally dangerous as Bertabeiv despite his age

Beterbiev hurts guys with short glancing arm punches. No one can stay still (shell up or lay on the ropes) otherwise Beterbiev gets his hips, legs and full leverage on his punches, not just his arms, which is a death sentence. Smith has either gotta go for broke, like Joe Smith did, and also be trained to box for 12 as back up.

Reach, jab, height, right straight is an advantage for Smith but also can be a disadvantage as Beterbiev finds the angles and may see them as easy markers to get inside and then Smith's longer arms and frame are easier target and can't react. Beterbiev is a more skilled and harder hitting version of Golovkin. Golovkin would walk forward, pressurise, high work rate, heavy hands...but Beterbiev finds the angles and destabilises you and is suffocating you with accuracy, angles and heavy hands. Smith certainly has a chance as Beterbiev has made harder work of lesser fighters than Smith, but Beterbiev has to be favourite due to his destructive, suffocating skill, unless Beterbiev has aged too much.
@Dunlop-ut4og
@Dunlop-ut4og 10 ай бұрын
The evidence in previous fights is Callum Smith doesn't keep his range and distance when he's fighting higher level opponents - Ryder or to a higher level Canelo. He certainly has power going for him but he's the taller fighter and bigger target for Beterbiev in the inside. I also think taller fighters can be caught with a uppercut in the inside they don't see coming easier than shorter boxers. I'd pick Beterbiev to stop Smith with a uppercut when he reaches in to punch to the body in the late rounds. He still has a chance with his power so will be entertaining fight.

I've rarely ever seen Beterbiev fight on the back foot, imo i believe taking the fight to beterbiev is the way forward, if you can get beterbiev to fight on the back foot, that is your best way of winning, but you have to be able to keep that up for 12 rounds mind you. you can't allow Beterbiev to get comfortable moving forward and you have to take away Beterbievs jab and his back hand. Its a big ask but its doable.

Gotta go with beterbiev late on this one (rounds 7-12), Callum has power but will only be able to stop in in the first 6 rounds, beterbiev pressure style zaps energy meaning Callum will have no power left to stop him after round 6. The way Callum folded against canelo and Ryder really makes me struggle to see how he wins, beterbiev hits harder than both and pressures so much more with his variation of punch power and combos. Beterbiev late stoppage or buddy pulls Callum out from a one sided beating. Doesn’t hurt to bet Callum to get a stoppage under 6 rounds given the odds.

Styles make fights, for me the style that maybe is a nightmare for beterbiev is the style from bivol. Very good footwork, in and out to close the discance in a very quick fashion, fast combinations in the straight line, not to stand on a point too long to be a static target for counters, that all maybe is kyrptonit for beterbievs fighting style. Very interesting matchup.

@@JaYyLunA Wrong. Smith had publicly said since Summer 2020 that he was training knowing he was a frontrunner for Canelo who was tied up in litigation. It's Canelo who had less time to prepare and sent out offers to the champs when he settled his DAZN case without knowing which would end up accepting.

Teddy keeps contradicted himself. He talked really good about Callum Smith vs. Beterbiev, but then talks about how bad Canelo is, yet Canelo gave Smith, who Teddy says he is very good, handed Callum his first loss and took his world title. Hating Teddy loves to talk and confuses the other experts.

I think that Beterbiev will prove to be just too strong and relentless against Smith, some of these guys like Dawson and Thompson spsak of this "Freakish Power" and I think Smith will soon find out he made a big mistake taking this fight, Beterbiev by 6th rd TKO🥊

Teddy Atlas hates British boxers. He is so predictable. Don't underestimate how good Calum Smith is. This will be a great fight and although I lean toward a Beterbiev win I honestly believe Smith could give him a lot of problems with his counters.

Underestimate? Smith does not have enough strength or power to keep Beterbiev off of him. If he starts fast and keeps Smith on the ropes, he'll tee off on him until the fight gets stopped.
